EVO 4G LTE delayed to may 25th?

I checked out that S4gru site / article and at the bottom of the article he states, "However, now, and until further notice, Sprint employees are no longer allowed to reference the May 18th launch date"

Now, I just got off the phone with sprint to cancel one of my lines and while on the phone with them, I asked them if the Evo 4g Lte phones where delayed because of Customs etc. Her reply was, "Let me check, No they are not delayed. They are scheduled to be released on March 18."

So until I read an officail and I do mean official statement from Sprint and /or HTC, I'll believe it. However, I'm still going to the Sprint Corp. Store first thing Friday morning to try and buy one :)

That "hack" still did not have the facts right. It was supposed to be software/hardware issues and not customs. Besides no one really knows what is going on at this point. Sprint & BB may already have stock for the 18th. Pr-ordered at BB on the 7th and hoping they have some on the 18th. I will go to my local BB on Thurs night and try to figure out if it is worth my time on Fri morn.

He guessed it was a software issue, read his original post, smh and IT WAS. A software PATENT issue. I have a pre-order in with Sprint like all the rest of you, but damn if it doesn't make me smile that I vouched for this guy's (previous) credibility and a lot of you didn't believe it, and even mocked him

Hopefully Sprint has enough stock, if any, to cover our pre-orders though and is sending them out as we speak, hopefully.

I am skeptical because he kept stating the release date was always June 10th and that there were LTE issues with the software. Neither of these seems to be the source of the "delay"

1 - It's likely there are LTE issues with the software, Sprint has live LTE sites but is blocking all phones, including the GNex.

2- He claims to have MULTIPLE sprint sources, the June 10th leak was obviously wrong, but I cannot think of another Sprint thing he has been wrong on, otherwise he has been spot on.

don't you think the phones would of been shipped more than a week in advance to get that to all the stores before the launch date

It wouldn't surprise me see phones making it to the US just two days before delivery to their final destination.

With all due respect I don't doubt that there are LTE issues. In fact I would be surprised if there weren't any issues and that yes they will probably be corrected with an OTA update. All I am saying is that his reasons for a delay were not even close to the "real" reason. Remember he did not even hint that there were patent issues that could hold things up. I just have a hard time believing a random stranger who can't substantiate what he is relating.

Understood. But do you really think his source, prob a lowly employee at Sprint corporate, not a Sprint exec, knows all of the details or just the high level facts? I'd bet on the latter.

Obviously the dude was right, whether he knew all the fine details or not, he didn't pull this out of his ass, and other than the launch date for this phone (he's known for LTE rollout info, not phone release info) he has one hell of a track record.

If he really has an inside source this really looks bad for Sprint because they went ahead with this and really didn't know if it would happen. It looks now as though Sprint is starting to say the device will be delayed. I ordered from BB and I can almost guarantee that I will be waiting for this. My apologies if I offended you it was not my intent just making some observations. Thanks for your input.

No offense at all :) just hated to see the S4GRU guy attacked that has provided some good inside Sprint LTE info in the past few months. I hope I didn't offend anyone either :)

I think some Transparency on Sprint and HTC would do us the endusers some good. That way we can direct our collective energy to the real culprits.

I liked this post, but had to wonder what "making it the US was?" I keed : ) Get em killer.

Yea, so much for that "hack" not knowing what he's talking about.

That hack still does not have the facts (no one does), he said it was an issue related to the LTE network. Last I checked the LTE will not go live when the EVO LTE launches. This is just an inspection to make sure HTC is in compliance with the order, it's not a delay.

Is there any official statement out? I haven't seen one anywhere.

Edit: at least an official statement, with an official source.

Still no official word from Sprint, but they took out the May 18th out of the EVO 4G LTE page :( I guess we'll have to wait

I seen that one, but I meant an actual post from HTC or Sprint. I can't find anything...

Phil already posted that Sprint is still referring official inquiries to HTC, so I doubt we'll hear anything from Sprint today.

I doubt HTC will post anything officially on their site. I would hope that they would make a press release but releasing official statements to the press is good enough for me.
