EVO 4G LTE NOT innovative enough

Try living with Siri, it's not that amazing. Her text to speech is on par with other offerings and cannot detect voice inflection. So if you say text my wife then ask your wife a question you have to say question mark.

Other tasks are the same it's decent software but nothing like it was made out to be. I thought I was getting something like a less powerful version of IBM Wattson, really it's just voice command software.

I have had ios for years it's a great platform, but I'm ready for the switch.

That being said the Evo is a flagship device, it is using the best technology the market currently has to offer. If you can't handle a better phone coming out soon then get an iPhone, you can garantee another one won't come out for a year. It's something I actually like about having an iOS device.

Have any of you ever bought a pc? It doesn't sound like it. It's a common thing to deal with innovation and something better comming out shortly after your purchase. If you want a device that will stay current for a year get a Mac/iPhone.

I can tell you the next iPhone will have a 4" screen, maybe a better camera, a newer design, Siri, lte support and maybe a quad core with 1gb ram. Chances are it will have a dual core and 1gb ram, and they will save the quad core for the 5s. It might be a bit thinner.

Let me say this, Do you think Apple will release a phone whose selling point is only a faster processor? A better camer? HD Voice that isn't even going to be available at launch nor will it be available to all.

You obviously havent seen the newest iPad in comparison to the iPad 2.........

The iPhone in no way is "innovative".

Sent from my antique Evo 3D that can now be found at the Smithsonian

This is sheer ignorance. Without the iPhone we wouldnt have Android. Lets be honest here. Apple set the bar...and now everyone is fighting to reach it. Not saying iOS is better than Android...just saying that Apple set a tone in the cell phone industry when it was released and now EVERY new phone gets compared to the iPhone. Whether we like the comparisons or not they take place. Apple did that...not Google, not Microsoft. Just in the same way Palm set the climate for touchscreens...Apple came in and ran with it.

I think one is a naive idiot to argue that Apple hasnt done something no other company has managed to do. They are at the lead in the tech world. I love Android...in many ways I feel Android is superior to Apple. But I'm not going to slight the accomplishments of Apple.

are you sticking with Sprint?
or are you looking at Verzion and AT&T
because if you sticking with Sprint then there isn't much to pick from

I've been with Sprint for years. No since leaving now. I've got the Galaxy S3 and future iPhone to look forward to. I just want to see what else is coming, then compare to the EVO LTE and make a decision from there.

None of the voice commands can detect inflection in one's voice. Am i wrong? But can any of them detect and decipher conversational speech?

Yes I have bought a PC, several. Its like comparing apples and oranges. I could also use your argument to say video game consoles don't innovate but we still buy them. Maybe you can see comparisons like that as valid, but I don't. Its just different for me.

just asked my phone, using voice search, "what is the mass of the earth?"
It gave me the answer.

I have an OG EVO that has been around long before your "inovative" SIRI

I guess my thing is that Apple put this feature on the forefront. Nobody else capitalized on such a feature. And now that Apple has done it EVERYONE is saying, "No wait!! My phone can do that too!! And it does it better!". But Apple put a name to it...marketed it...PUSHED IT. And they got people in the stores based on this ONE feature. Apple released the 4s which honestly didnt have a whole lot over the 4...but this ONE feature has people intrigued and ready to purchase.

How can one argue that isnt impressive? I'd say thats smart. From a business standpoint...you release a phone with minor differences over its predecessor...highlight ONE feature that was arguable around before...and sell millions. You Android die-hards can say what you want...but thats good business.

The 4s' best features are the a5 chipset and the camera for sure. That said the camera sucks in low light situations, and the flash is worthless and is only good for blowing out your already crappy low light photos.

As an Evo 3D owner as well...low light shooting isn't great on that either. So that definitely isnt something limited to the iPhone.

Yes, it is impressive. But you are talking about marketing, not innovation, which seems to be the OP's concern.

It's all marketing, and Apple just did it better, they didn't "change the game with innovation", they changed the way you sell your product. They grabbed the fad routine and is riding the sucker out. After I believe the iPhone 3G, that's when you started seeing more and more companies just whoring their products out to the public, and thats where everyone just fell short, because they didn't do it before Apple did it so well.

Its all preference, what do you like to see, feel, all that nonsense. When iPhone 4 came out, all this hoop la with the Retina Display, oh my it looks so amazing, yet the screen size was what? 3.5, every phone being released at the time was pushing out that new barrier, 4+ inch screens, hence with the original Evo, and that WinMo HTC phone, touch pro? can't remember. My point for that was, the bigger the screen, the more you see right? Why did "retina display" work so well? Cause the phone is "tiny" compared to phones nowadays.

But yet again its marketing, you take something that everyone is already used to, or maybe its something way back in the far reaches of their brains, and you bring it out as something way new and shiny!. Tell me how is it that iPhone 4/4s was leaps and bounds better then phones out when they were released. Just as a phone standpoint, no 4G, LTE, but yet it was like the greatest phones ever released, no one cared about that? Well alot of people on these forums thats for sure.

All preference, and for me I love the wow factor of Android, not the plain dull and basic of iOS. Mark my words, a future version of iOS will have it's own version of Widgets, but cause of marketing, and of course a different name for it, Apple would be praised for something that's been out for forever now, but it's all about how they present it, unfortunately

I don't need to touch the phone to know what Sprint's Dan Hesse told me the phone is capable of doing. The specs are laid out for all to see. I have my opinion and you have yours.

As for moving along. Doing it baby!!

If it turns out that I find that the Evo LTE is worth getting after viewing other phones and playing with the device when it comes out, who knows... I might buy it. As for now, 'I'm nut imprez wit HTC's per for manz'.
since we've revealed that you're an iphone nutswinger, lol my opinion is the iphone is only great to iphone elitist, you'll buy one only to jail break it (and void your warranty) only to make it do what Android devices can right out of the box, why are you still even here? dont they have a large number of Apple forums you can troll? and before you suggest it, Ive owned an iphone......for about 13 days, I couldnt take it anymore, it had to go

Well b4 I get to the HTC thing...just wanted to say I've been using Samsung since The Samsung UpStage SPH-M620 was introduced and so on... I'm very Happy with my phone and at this point wouldn't wait for the next big thing...because it's already here....lol
and as they said b4 Siri has it's problems and brings laughs to us Android users...just you tube it. Apple is playing the catch up game now but will not admit it anytime soon...screen size come on really? If it's called iphone 5 it should be 5 inches of screen...sorry little handed people...haa haa. Now HTC on the other hand will feature an Awesome kickstand. That in itself is nice just like the first EVO my friend had....my only quarrel with them is that I tried viewing movies I loaded and notice a slight lag...test 3 of them to make sure. Will the new EVO be able to play MOVIES without lag...whoever get this nice phone should post please...oh and by the way...all my peeps with EVO's now have a Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch...

Samsung's Galaxy S II, not Apple's iPhone 4, that was voted as the top smartphone of the year....

I use the app "personal assistant". It even has a face that you can customize. My daughter has the new Iphone and she never uses siri, that being said we did a side by side comparison and there was no difference at all. I'll never forget the day I bought her the Iphone. I was excited to finally see what all the hype was about and after 15 mins of playing with it I was bored. made me happy to have an android device.

Sounds like somebody needs to look through the Play Store. I introduced a coworker to Jeannie, and she immediately started conversing with her phone. Which is cool, but that's my beef with Jeannie and Siri. When I tell my phone to do something, I want it done, and I want it done now. I don't need to have a conversation with a slab of metal, plastic, and glass just to find today's weather. I don't need that slab to ask me why I'm going to Chili's when I tell it to navigate there. It's cool, it's fancy, but it does not enhance productivity. And I'm assuming the slab understood my request to begin with! Which is why I love Voice Actions with personalized recognition. The thing recognizes my name and reads it back perfectly; nobody pronounces my name right!
