First off siri = fail...did a side by side comparison with it and iris tyre free android competitor and iris had better answers faster and at the time the only thing siri had better was the ability to schedule which iris now has...second off this phone has better hardware than the iphone and android os is way better than ios. Take your apple fanboy bs somewhere else

Anything else we can come up with for discussion besides Siri??

If not then HTC has done a fine job of providing what we are looking for in this current state of devices.

Iphone users focus on what apple hypes the most because they can't think for themselves...also iris beats siri hands down

The automatic switching to Car Dock mode feature is a huge selling point for me. Such a simple idea, but when combined with the Car Mode UI, simply brilliant.

I can now use my phone as a GPS and Music source easily and intuitively as if it was the original device and having my phone switch to it instantly when I plug in the Special Car Mode USB cable is innovative for me.

For more on that feature, chk out this page: Special HTC Cable That Activates Car Dock App On HTC One Smartphones

what does the op expect? all of a sudden some phone to be released with features far and beyond anything we've seen? i dont think the developers are going to all of a sudden invent and discover a bunch of new things. phones now are about as advanced as they can be. as the months go by and the devs design new features and such, they get added to the new phones. but there really isnt much new and different to be added from phone to phone. if you compare phones now to phones 2 years ago you can see huge changes. and 2 years before that even more. 2 years before that and the phones are almost funny to look at. the fact is they are so high tech now that we almost expect the same speed with which advancements were made over the past few years. but in reality, they can only be tweaked.

but apple acts like talking to your phone is the next big thing and a huge talking point. i love how the commercials make it look like its a real conversation when in reality the stupid thing doesnt always hear you and repeats everything you say to ask if its right.

Sadly, it's doubtful, as it's about the only thing people can point to when trumpeting iOS's "superiority" over Android.

Why do the iPhone fans always keep bringing up Siri? It's not innovative, it wasn't first, and in comparison to several of the free Android apps, it's inferior. Period.

Just one recent example: watch the latest iPhone commercial with Samuel Jackson when he asks Siri, "How many ounces in a cup?" Siri replies, "Is this what you're looking for?" and brings up a conversion table. Seriously?

When I ask that same question on my 2-year old Evo (using Jeannie), I get the verbal response "There are 8 fluid ounces in a cup, 1 oz = 0.12 cup". Bam, exact correct answer without having to look it up in a TABLE. Jeannie will even do the math for me if I ask "How many ounces in 12 cups".

Apple is the undisputed master of hype, smoke, and mirrors. And their cult of users swallow everything without question. It's absolutely maddening. :(

You've got to be kidding. iOS hasn't innovated a damn thing since it was introduced. Everything has been borrowed or stolen from the competition. Heck Siri was just an acquisition of an existing app. At best it will possibly provide hardware differentiation. In spite of the lack of innovation iphones sell crazy well so what's going to compel Apple to start now? Its a platform which has peaked and is riding the wave until it crashes.

This.

Supposedly, Siri was a government/military creation that wasn't really being used, and Apple purchased it to adapt it to phones. I can't stand Apple because Steve Jobs was a terrible human being.

Somehow this thread took a turn and became about Siri when actually it was only an example i used. I didn't say that Android needed Siri. I believe that there is only so much you can do with phone hardware on touchscreen phones. Its time to be unique in a different way besides whats expected. I want to see better software upgrades and better interaction with devices. It just happens to be that Siri is a damn good example.

You all have great points that you're making. Thanks for sharing your input in a mature discussion. I will hold onto my OG EVO for awhile to see what else comes out in the future. Hope you enjoy your new toys :D!

See ya

I guess my thing is that Apple put this feature on the forefront. Nobody else capitalized on such a feature. And now that Apple has done it EVERYONE is saying, "No wait!! My phone can do that too!! And it does it better!". But Apple put a name to it...marketed it...PUSHED IT. And they got people in the stores based on this ONE feature. Apple released the 4s which honestly didnt have a whole lot over the 4...but this ONE feature has people intrigued and ready to purchase.

How can one argue that isnt impressive? I'd say thats smart. From a business standpoint...you release a phone with minor differences over its predecessor...highlight ONE feature that was arguable around before...and sell millions. You Android die-hards can say what you want...but thats good business.

I definitely agree, but I have never and will never spend a penny on an apple product

While everyone is arguing the merits of one companies innovations over another, lets not forget what Motorola did with the kickstand on the Photon. It wasn't "just" a kickstand but one with a brain. An active kickstand which allowed your phones orientation to change once in use.

Personally I think that was awesome and enjoyed using it. Since HTC first introduced us to the phone with the built in kickstand, it bothered me that the line of thought didn't continue and wasn't reintroduced UNTIL the LTE Evo.

I like the idea of an active kickstand like you're saying. Makes sense.

Is this thread all about gimmicks too? I'll tell you what, the EVO LTE can be the 2012 version of the 2008 Blackberry of cell phones and I'd still love it. Screw Siri and whatever Samsung has coming out with the SGS3.

As much as I am a fan of Samuel L. Jackson, I could care less about talking to a phone.

Should've been sent from my HTC EVO 4G LTE using Android Central Forums.

Well then by extension Google must be a horrible company, considering that Steve taught Eric Schmidt and Larry Page everything they know about running a tech company focused on innovation. (Steve was the mentor for both of them)

Oh, and Siri wasn't a government creation. It existed as an app that Apple bought, and them rebuilt to be better than the original.

Can't say I've haven't been guilty in wanting to go the s3 route instead of waiting for the EVO but all the s3 has is extra software that you can easily root and Dowload to ics phones like the EVO as someone already posted.

Oh and as far as claiming the 4s has a better camera well post pic and then we will see. Last time I checked the EVO LTE isn't out quite yet.
