So is it gonna be ROM based or an .apk ? Any ideas ? This is gonna make the EVO all new and shuny again I can't wait ....

If they get it working on AOSP, ill have no reason to EVER go back to sense.
It may also prompt me to keep my evo for a long while :p

Shinzul has started to work on it for AOSP.

Yeah, from what I can tell, TeamWin complained to the moderators of XDA to get orrebmas taken down. Maybe they didn't want the competition?

Orrebmas really isn't looking for money or fame. So it was strange that it was taken down. He didn't even have a donate button until a bunch of us asked him to put it up, and he is still really modest about taking donations. In any case, I am confident he will beat anyone else to having this fully functional on all ROM's. He has made more progress in a couple weeks part time, than ANYONE else who has been at it for the past 9 months.

His current version is a simple APK. Meaning anyone can use it. I am rooted, but I don't believe it requires root. You just install the APK, click the button that says "start", and voila, everything on your Evo is showing up on your TV.

The APK he sent me to test only supports portrait so far, and it defaults to the far left of the screen. It will go landscape, but the orientation stays portrait on the TV.

I will post any progress he makes here, assuming I am kept in the loop, but don't be surprised if it's available in the market soon. Like I said, this developer is really humble, and just wants to get something out to the people.

Whatever happened really irked me. I'll never post at xda again. This guy is obviously a good programmer and instead of getting help and encouragement He was targeted for elimination.

open source development to me means sharing ideas, code, etc. I saw none of this at xda.

I fired off a rant as a parting shot but the thread got deleted and I'm sure I got a private message from a moderator that I'll never bother to read.

I'm not an android developer but I can code. I'm not that good at writing my own programs but if someone shows me a piece of code and says this is what it supposed to do but, it's not doing what I want. There's a darn good chance I can find the mistake. When I joined xda I foolishly thought I might get to participate but, it's a private club.

I donated to his cause and will again as it progresses hopefully by buying it when it hits the market.

Anyway, i kinda hate for my 1st post to be a rant. I just needed to vent, lol.

I didnt know orrebmas thread got taken down, thats BS!
He seems like a great guy, and didnt even beg for donations like most the other dev's over there. -sigh-

Anyone know how to contact him? He would be welcome here on AC!

hes here just hasnt posted yet ;)

I can confirm that there is a developer named orrebmas that has a fully functional APK that allows full HDMI output, with full mirroring of the UI, on all sense based roms. The project is an alpha, and needs a couple of bugs worked out, but the developer is putting alot of time into this. AOSP roms are next on his to do list after he gets some orientation issues worked out.

Here is a link of me testing his first revision of the app. http:// YouTube - SNES emulator using Sam Berro fullHDMI

I will post updates here as I get them.
****in Badass now this is what Iam talking about thanks allot for the info I knew it could be done and people that said it couldnt were talking ****. See now theres a real developer who true badass. Every Evo owner has been waiting for this. Now the question when we will we be seeing this on the market or how I can a become part of the testing. And Bradley can you post some other vids showing more of the full Ui with home screens thanks again. Whats even more amazing is the screen on the Evo doesnt go blank either like when you use the Hdmi for Youtube.

@bradleyw801
You mentioned an APK. Wanna share?

I would, except for 2 reasons. One is respect for the developer, and the second is that it wouldn't work anyway. For testing and to preserve the integrity of his app, orrebmas has put a verification in it. It is tied to the account on the phone and won't function without this authentication.

I will be putting another video up today per the request of some folks here. I am sure the moment its ready for public beta, the dev will open it up.

In the meantime I will be as open as possible with my testing.

That's cool. Appreciate any updates you may have. Looking forward to the video as well! If orrebmas is looking for more beta testers, you know where to look. ;)

That really is a bunch of BS that they closed his thread. There was absolutely no reason for it as far as I can see. Usually when a mod closes a thread they will give an explanation why it is being closed, but they just closed it without saying why.

We need to get him over here on AC, at least his work will be appreciated here.

As a fellow tester, it's lookin good so far :)
And as 702DROID already said above - He's already here ;) Just hasn't posted yet

I posted another video. Forgive the out of focus areas, and the changing light. I need to do this with a better camera. I am using my brothers Evo as the video camera, and I am in a poorly lit area.

YouTube - Using fullHDMI and a remote desktop app

My idea here was to use the fullHDMI app along with a remote desktop app. What I did was logged into the server here at work from my Evo. On my evo, if I zoom completely out, everything gets degraded at full resolution.

Which in turn means that it gets degraded on the monitor. I found the optimal resolution to be one step higher than the native res of the Evo. 800x600 was the setting I used in the remote desktop app.

The result was pretty cool. I was able to use the screen of the Evo as sort of a multi-touch mouse. If I had a bluetooth keyboard, I could pair that up, and do some serious remote desktop use from the phone.

The advantage to doing this with orrebmas app is that I could use a full monitor. The monitor lets you look at the whole desktop from the remote without squinting. When you zoom out fully on the Evo the icons are actually pretty small, which is why the app supports pinch to zoom. By projecting it on to the monitor, it allows you to be more productive, and instead of focusing on small areas of the desktop, you can look at the whole desktop at once.

I have been working on projecting some AVI files using V-player. The problem I am running into is not with the fullHDMI app alone, it's that with the app running, plus V-player running, my processor starts to lag.

Even with all this going on, it's not terrible, some minor tweaks, and I think it would be very useable. On a smaller AVI file it actually ran pretty smooth with the only exception being that the video would lag behind the audio periodically. On higher definition videos, I started to see alot more pixelation, but the audio kept up better.

I am going to try a few other file types, and other players. I will also be putting on a kernel that lets me overclock, to see if that helps. Again, this forum will be the first to hear of any new updates.
