Loving my EVO....had it since it came out. Now I use my Xoom via hotspot on my EVO and run my business with both. Between the two devices I can use the Square app and take credit card payments right from my phone and tablet. Customers always ask about the phone though. Where did I get it and what brand is it. I've probably sold 50+ EVO's for Sprint without even being on their payroll.

Satisfied

Just spent the last 24 hours playing with EVO. Its not even activated and I am completely Satisfied...

So far so good. I am enjoying it so far. But I am disappointed in the volume and also the lag with the camera function. Have not tried video yet...I am in a 3G area so I haven't had any lag problems as described earlier.

I am a heavy-user, and I have owned my Evo 4G since last fall.... and I still LOVE it!!!

I'ave been using cell phones, and smartphones for as long as they have been around ~
1. Remember the Motorola Star , with clip on PDA ??
- (was nothing less than *Brilliant, for it's day and age)
2. Motorola (model that supported PTT)
3. Razor
4. Rascal
5. HTC Hero ( sometimes still wish for a trackball... just saying)
6. HTC Evo 4G

* The older Motorola models had the BEST reception (very rural area)
* The 2 HTC phones have been the: Best; Smartest; and Most usable phones (because of Android OS)

Love it

I love the evo but wished the otterbox case was available for the evo with the extended battery. But other than that, I still love it.

I'm loving my Evo. The only thing that drives me crazy is that I keep accidentally hitting the voice button on the keyboard. Very annoying.

That happens to me all the time, especially when I use the phone in portrait mode. I wish the microphone icon was located off to the side.

Every phone that I've had before my Evo, Palm Pre included, I would be dying for my next upgrade(every 12 months). I've had my Evo since last July, and I am patiently waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S II. I am in no big hurry to upgrade.

I'm in no rush to upgrade, but I'd consider the coming EVO 3D IF it has a larger internal memory. I've heard conflicting reports on whether it does or not.

Since I have updated from a bb curve to the EVO I asked myself why I haven't done this sooner! This is by far one of the best phones out there. I haven't had any problems with this phone what so ever. The only bad thing there was about this phone is the battery life. But that's expected with a phone that does everything.

I upgraded from a Samsung Moment. I used that phone for about 19 months and loved it. I had the opportunity for an early upgrade and a FREE Evo 4G, so I took it. Even though the platform is over a year old by now, and probably EOL, I think it was one of the best tech purchases I have made in a long time. It is fast and smooth. I have had my hands on many of the other 1GHz phones, including the Incredible, and this one takes the cake.

Thoughts

Screen - I would just be reiterating what others have already posted. It is big and bright and I can see it when I am in the sun, unlike the AMOLED screen that my Moment had.

Speed - Holy smokes this thing is fast!! I only played with it stock for about 20 mins before I rooted it and flashed a custom ROM onto it, but it was great.

UI - Initially, I didn't like the fact that there was another UI on top of the stock Android. Coming from the Moment, that is all that I had, but Sense is a very nice UI. I think it blows away Blur, TouchWiz/iOS, and AOSP.

Battery - I see a lot of people on both sides of the fence. I haven't really seen a battery issue with the phone. It is a smartphone and if you use 100% of it capabilities, you will kill the battery very quickly. I get at least 16 hours out of a charge and that is while streaming Pandora.

Overall, this is the best smartphone I have ever owned. It it much better than the Galaxy S line, the Motorola Droid Line, and the iPhones. I will be keeping this one for at least a year or more. There is no reason for me to want to upgrade anytime soon. Unless of course the phone can clean my yard, save me money on gas, or go to work for me.

Just upgraded from the bb 8530 and its like a whole new world. My only complaint is kicking myself for not changing over sooner.

Been lurking on Android Central for awhile. I have a question. :-) I just bought the EVO this weekend. Love it so far. Upgrading from a Hero. It was kind of an impulse, because I really hadn't been planning on upgrading yet, so I hadn't really looked into phones. At the Sprint store, I was looking at the Evo 4G (even though my area probably wouldn't get 4G til the NEXT millenium) and the Nexus S. The salesman was steering me towards the Evo...said it was what he had, and gave me a few reasons why he thought it was better. Duh! I didn't realize til a day or two later when I was reading reviews that the Evo 4G is being discontinued. I'm sure that's why he was steering me towards the Evo. In the two or three days that I've had the Evo, I LOVE it! Awesome phone. But I'm worried about updates. I wonder if it will get ICS? I've still 27-28 days to return/exchange it. I can get the Nexus S for the same price....not sure about the EVO 3D. I guess I'm just looking for opinions about whether to keep it or if I should exchange it. Thanks!

Discontinued or not, the EVO 4G is a great phone and will still be better than most phones available today.

Things to take into consideration:
1. How much did the EVO 4G cost you? If it cost you $50 or less then you're not overinvested in your phone. If you paid $100 or more you might as well get the EVO 3D or the Motorola Photon.
2. How often do you upgrade your phone? If you upgrade every time you become eligible then theres no harm keeping the EVO and upgrading again next time. Also if you only upgrade occasionally then thats fine too because the EVO is a great phone and will serve you well beyond your two-year service contract. And I HIGHLY doubt the EVO 4G will get Ice Cream Sandwich simply because ICS requires a dual core processor and the EVO 4G only has a single core 1ghz. (still plenty fast by all means).
3. Do you have a Gold Premium account status? If yes then you're eligible for upgrade every twelve months. By then there will be newer devices.

Either way you cant go wrong buying either EVO or the brand new Motorola Photon (which I also have and is a GREAT phone). As for the Nexus S 4G I would not pick that phone over any of the EVO's or the Motorola Photon. I heard it has signal issues etc, plus it has a smaller screen although that may not matter to you. Its all up to you. Good luck.

So, to start this off I had a new Blackberry Bold that I realised. Started searching Craigs List for an Evo, they had them but too pricey for my budget at the time.

Well about a month later still pissing and moaning about the BB Bold, I checked Craigs List one more time, and guess what I found? A guy with a white 1 month old Evo with the extended battery and a couple of cases, wanting to trade straight across for a BB Bold in new condition. I was floored and assumed that Evo was long gone. So I called the dude up and he still had it. Seems he was a huge BB fan and his wife talked him into getting the Evo. I'm so glad she did, cause I got the trade....straight across no $$$.

So, now a month later i'm in love with my Evo. I even learned how to root it and I'm running cm7 as I type this out on it.

The only thing I dislike about the stock Evo is the keyboard, but I quickly changed that.

Signed; the luckiest guy this side of the Red River.
