Evo Screen Water Damage. What should I do?

Thanks for the help guys... will be talking to Sprint tomorrow about the coverage. And then seeing how it looks after 24 hours in the rice. And then I'll give the heating pad a try!

Having the same problem with my Aria. Put an invisible gadget guard on it. Looked like crap so I took it off, and realized it was water under the screen :(

Check with the credit card company you used to buy it. Many include 90 days accidental damage and extend your warranty one year for no charge and no deductible.

i read on either these or another forum sometime closer to launch day of this happening to someone's evo after applying a zagg shield.

a sprint employee advised the customer to wrap the phone into a towel and leave it in the car. this supposedly worked for the op of the post i was reading.

this has stuck with me since. hope it helps!

The exact same thing happened to me about a week ago. I know this is a month old thread by now, but were you able to get all of the water out? What worked best?

I've been baking mine under a lamp for about a week, and I still have some annoying "bright spots" similar to the ones in the picture that you posted.

I also had this happen to me when trying to (carefully!) clean part of my phone. Despite the fact that I was paranoid and extra cautious, I still ended up with water under the screen. The effect looks very similar to the other photos posted.

I immediately put it in a bag of rice, and then switched over to Silica gel packets. It's been in there for 3 days so far, and there's still a little bit of water remaining. So I'm encouraged that it's receding, but still pretty scared :)

Thats why I had the zagg shield installed for me at Best Buy. If something like this happened it would be there fault and they would have to exchange the phone :)! Anyway hope it works out for you

+1 I had them do the install as well, for $8 it was worth it to take the responsibility off me and put it on them.

The girl that did it definitely used a lot of the solution. She seemed like she knew what she was doing through, wiped most of the solution down toward the bottom and the sides, avoiding the earpiece area.

She said it was a "special" liquid which wouldn't harm the internals if it did penetrate though??

Update: After 4 days drying in a sealed bag of silica gel, it looks like all the water is gone and the phone functions fine. The only remaining problem is that it looks like it left behind some residue behind near the corner. It's hard to notice unless the screen is showing all white at least.

Sorry for bringing up this post, but I just got my Evo last week and decided I needed a screen protector, so I picked up an invisible shield because I have always used them, except for my blackberry so Im not sure why I decided I NEEDED one on my evo, knowing that the screen is indeed glass, Idk, maybe I was over zealous about protecting the pretty screen.

The solution only seeped in around the top left corner of the screen around the htc logo, and the area is very small, they look like two little horns popping out around there.

Note: This problem is related to the Invisible Shield by Zagg.

The first step I did after freaking out was pulling the door off and pulling the battery instantly.

Second I'd read before when I had issues with my ipod and the IS was use a blow dryer, so I used a blow dryer on medium heat for about 10 minutes, looked at the screen and it was clearly evaporating but causing a lot of fog from the evaporation process.

After that I was like, now that its starting to evaporate I quickly tossed it in a bag of rice with some silica packs that I keep laying around from my ammo cans that I let sit over winter, good thing is I work all weekend 12 hour shifts, so I wont be able to mess with my Evo anyways untill Monday morning/afternoon.

Will def post results on Monday.

If I missed anything feel free to tell me what else I can possibly do.
