EVO status bar icons

I'm having an issue with a icon thats not listed in the manual. The icon looks like an ear with sound coming out or some kind of plug. Its directly left of the GPS icon, does anyone know what it is?

That icon tells you that the setting for "hearing aids" is enabled.
Go to "settings" then "call" and uncheck "Hearing Aids" to remove that.
This setting amps up the volume even more.
