Evo stuck on silent mode

hi everyone.. i encountered a problem with my evo yesterday. The problem seems to be with the sound. when i hold the power button down to it says that silent mode is on. but when i go to sound & display settings, my sound profile is set to normal.. the speaker on the phone is not working. its kinda pissing me off. but headphones work when i plug those in.. thanks guys

download the silent mode toggle from the market place, you can find it in my apps bellow on appbrain. Try that and let me know if it helps.

silent mode toggle did not work.. same thing happens. on the widget icon, it says off. but when i hold the power button it says silent mode on..

That is unfortunate. Back up all of your apps on appbrain. And sync all of your accounts. Then restore to factory defaults. Be very careful what tasks you stop if you are using a task manager. I haven't heard any other cases of this, so hopefully its a one time glitch.

thats correct... You could always take it to a sprint store that does repairs, but they will probably reset it for you...

just tried turning on speakerphone while on a phone call.. it rings once when i hit answer... but does not make a sound when i do not answer the call. putting the phone on speaker did not work.

Have you looked at the volume settings?

volume settings are all up.. every time i go to phone options doing the long hold on the power button, it says silent mode on.. and when i click it to turn it off.. i get the icon on the top of the phone next to the 3g that has the music note that has the slash, indicating that the phone sound is off.. WTF.. i have no idea whats going on

its your ringtone

my girl had the same problem. she install a app for free ringtones n download a few n the main 1 work but stoped. under your ringtones click on any ringtone that came on your phone then restart evo

yeah.. only have the ringtones that came with my phone.. rebooted it so many times now... still nothing

I also did this, i turned her phone off, held the Home buttion and press the power button. I held them to in for about 10 secs. Then i clicked on a ringtone and turn the phone back off. Then when i turned the phone back on the normal way the sounds worked. Might help, might not. But it did work for me.

Maybe your speaker phone speaker is no good? Or try holding the volume up button
