EVO update 3.70.651.1 NOT

Dude, I put all the info in my post to help you flash a Rom. Just follow the Youtube video and Download whatever Rom you want and you should be good to go. The EVO Benchers web-site can help you choose a Rom you would like. Good Luck. I can help if needed

@GHODZILLA5150 thanks for the help I'm going to watch the video and take it from there. now will this help me get the latest update?

So Ghodzilla... what is the first step after rooting with Unrevoked... sorry i am VERY new to this.

I really dont care for the latest update, if its not 2.3 i dont care for blaotware, so on to some custom Roms!

If you put down your e-mail I can forward you the Zip file that contains the latest Radio for 3g, WiFi and 4g that just came out. You can flash this Zip after you flash the ROM you want. I flashed the Zip after I flashed MYN's Warm 2.2 and everything is working fine. My 3g and WiFi are alot better

The latest update had more than Bloatware. It had the Radio updates as well. This was the most important part to me

Awesome to see the 180 @jesse813 !! If you're already rooted, install Rom manager, it makes life MUCH easier.

@Poitier Cyanogen is one of the roms that doesn't have WiMax support.

What is a great place to start if you're new to rooting and want the latest update is with the Android Central ROM based on the latest update. It has most sprint bloatware removed and an app for free tethering, as well it's entirely stock themed so you're not too far off the beaten course.

Check out this thread: http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-roms-hacks/49106-rom-rebirth-ac-rom-ashes.html

In short you download the file, place it on your SD and in Rom Manager just go to install rom from zip on sdcard, select to wipe everything and it will handle the rest. - Just be sure to install Rom Manager again when you boot back up in the new rom so you can make a backup or switch it up again.

Sorry for the delay, I'm at work.

Choosing which ROM to Flash. If you goto EVO benchers you can read up on ROM's to Flash.

Composite HTC/AOSP

My favorite right now is MYN's Warm 2.2. He does a very good job and keeps it updated. Other good one's are Fresh EVO 3.4.0.1, Azrael X as these have the ROM and Kernel built in (you don't have to Flash the Kernel as well) and have 4g, WiFi, HDMI etc. etc.

After you choose your ROM, just download it to the Root of your SDCard and follow along in that Youtube video I posted. Easy Peasy. Takes about 15-20 minutes

WHAT!! you mean that ... ok... let me catch my breath... ok so if I root my phone, download ROM manager... choose the ROM that i like.. download it place it on my SD card ( while my phone is connected to my comp ) then simply go to Rom Manager just go to install rom from zip on sdcard, select to wipe everything and it will handle the rest???? its that easy? am I missing something here?

So why do other people make it s confusing .. like saying install kernel, use this, use that... its like mind blowing! Yet you guys make it look SOOOOOO easy! Also Ghodzilla, i am going to give that ROM you suggested that you said, the one that come with all the stuff ( kernel, radios ) ...wow..i CANNOT wait to go home and try this! come on 5 O'clock!!

I am hoping that one day you can do ALL this from your phone, that would be AWESOME!!

@Ghodzilla

School me if you will... What makes Cyanogen different? why is it so popular?

Also if i was to choose his, would i need to simply download this?

Here's the deal, some devs setup their ROMs to work right in rom manager, so you can go in to rom manager and hit download ROM, pick your ROM, it will download it and install it for you, all from your phone. (With Cyanogen be sure to check "Google Addon" so you get market, gmail etc.)

Other roms, like the Android Central rom you have to download (you can on your phone and it will go to your sdcard/downloads folder) and then in rom manager choose rom from SD card to install and just browse to it and select it and it'll prompt you to backup the current ROM that you're running and to wipe data.

The confusing stuff with the kernels comes after, if you want it to, for instance on Cyanogen you can install Snap kernel which will overclock and/or undervolt your CPU for increased speeds and better battery. Just work with the roms first and you'll naturally get in to all that tinkering if/when you feel like it.
