EVO update error

trying to update to 2.2 but phone reboots starts to update the goes to a screen with a triangle with a exclamation in it with the droid guy right next to it.thanks for your help

Did you root through unrevoked3?

yes i have unrevoked 3.

you have to unroot your phone first, than do the upgrade...here is the link on how to unroot it.

I have unrooted and now when i go to recovery i get the triangle with the exclamation

You did not have to unroot you only needed to flash the stock recovery
