Evo vs Epic

I never trash talked the Evo. I loved the phone and was sad to see it go when I first left it. I was curious to see what Super AMOLED was about. Second of all, I said that I denied ever liking the Evo as in I wanted to forget about it, but I couldn't! The Evo was way too good. The Epic has a bunch of problems and it turns out it really wasn't for me.

I DID love the Evo, I just worded it wrong, sorry about upsetting some of you guys as that really wasn't my point.

It's one of those things where you leave it behind, but never really wanted to. Once again, MY BAD. Wording was wrong. I'll fix the mistake.

Like you, I took the Epic for a spin but never got rid of my Evo. I certainly like the Epic, is a great phone with great hardware and enormous potential. Like you, I have identified too many small (and not so small) problems with the Epic that need addressing.

For that reason, I am sticking the Epic on the drawer for now until firmware that addresses some of the major issues becomes available. My Evo is very stable and I have no major issues with it.

I didn't mean to gun you down its just I have heard so much stuff about people leaving the Evo for the epic for better hardware and hear them say how the Evo is a bad phone. But then decide that they miss a few things that make the Evo the Evo. 4.3" screen, sense software from HTC, Froyo 2.2, even customs roms, which i don't use myself but find many others like them alot.

Yeah, no problem. I see where you were going with that. We have gotten some Pre users in the Epic forums that have done similar things and they kinda tick me off. Best part about Android is for some reason, even if a person was a heavy gamer, it seems almost as if it becomes unnecessary to play games.

So that's the secret of Apple! Keep 'em busy with games, so they don't notice our other flaws, lol.

I'll I can say now is EVO ftw, and now that I have way more knowledge on the phone, I think I can make it be way feel way better than how it felt before...not to mention that I was running Eclair before.

EPIC came out and I tried to love it but between not retrieving emails in time, 3G dropping signal, GPS issues and lousy internet speeds I went in today and pleaded...and they let me go back to an EVO with no penalties, fees or anything.

I feel like I'm home again

Hope I feel that way! The Evo felt just right, even with all the supposed Epic upgrades, something still felt good about the Evo and it seems like there was no way to leave it forever. After I saw the Desire HD being released for Europe, I just thought "ok, I have to go back!"

You do realize that the Evo beat the iPhone in cnet's prize fight, right? And that, until recently, the iPhone really WAS the best smart phone on the market, right?

I do feel that cnet is biased towards Apple products too, but this time it was about two Android 4g phones. Looks like they feel the Evo remains king and I would have to agree after having experienced both devices.

Although he says maybe the keyboard could be the deciding factor, for me it was the kickstand. Hah jk.

Agree. But they gave the Evo the win over the Ipod 4 in that prize fight also. Now that is saying something about the EVO.

Lets be honest, Apple makes GREAT products. Yes, an individual might prefer another product like most of us here. But maybe a lot of tech sites seem bais to apple because:
1. Apple news draws views.
2. Their products are good so they generally get good reviews.

Yeah may just be me but I think the evo is still better then the epic.. Epic is nice though.. And if this update removes the 60 FPS cap... It just gets better..

1. Apple news draws views.
2. Their products are good so they generally get good reviews.

You should be flamed for stating the obvious. Every time I mess with a iphone 4 I find things that are flat out better (unquestionably) than the EVO 4 but if I even mention them here I get grief. The android fanboys are no better than the apple ones.

Oh and here they are:
1. Iphone screen better, flat out. It's smaller, sure... but the quality is sooo much better. Especially outdoors.
2. camera/video is so much better it's not even funny. Ours is good under perfect conditions. Iphone works under most conditions, which is really when you use it.

That's not to say the evo 4 isn't better in some respects gmail being the most obvious along with reconfigurability. And yes, I have an EVO and like it but would probably like the iphone too.

I have a friend who just dumped his epic in favor of the iphone 4. And he came from two android phones. Even he'll tell you that they're about even, just excel at different things. He only dropped the Epic because Sprint covereage was bad where he lives. For me, it's the opposite, even though we're both in L.A.

Oh hey, this is about the evo vs the epic isn't it. Cool that evo is still top dog but it won't last when the Xmas phones go on sale october/november.

Exactly... To me no phone is great at everything... Or we would all have the same phone.. Just like the epic works great for people that love gaming on their phone... Beats the evo flat out... But for everyday use because I dont game ill take a evo over the epic anyday.. Different people have different needs.. I agree that the iphone takes better pics and video.. But I like to tinker with my phone so pics and video aren't that important to me where as making my phone look different and a customizable OS works better for me.. Which is why I like android a little more then IOS right now... It all just depends on what u want..
