(EVO3D) Work Around For Using WiiMotes On Video Game Emulators?

I was speaking to an emulator developer and he said that HTC has their Bluetooth setup in such a way, that users can't use WiiMotes with emulators on their phones. Is this true? If so, is there a work around that doesn't require that the phone be Rooted?

Unless HTC releases an update with a revised Bluetooth stack, there is no way to get around this.

That's horrible. Why would HTC do this to us? Is there some advantage to having the Bluetooth in our HTC phones work in this way? HTC can't think limiting WiiMote usage is a good thing, because the remote wont do any harm to the phone.

Okay so the only way to get around this is to Root the phone? The developer that I spoke with said that if I Rooted the phone and installed something called " CyanogenMod", that would allow me to use a WiiMote with my phone. Is this true? Can a phone that is just Rooted use WiiMotes? Basically, how far would I have to go for a chance to use a WiiMote with my EVO3D?

Im going to send an email through www.Planetfeedback.com to HTC and let them know that I would like for them to change their Bluetooth setup. Companies normally listen to feedback sent from that site. Maybe if enough people ask for the change, HTC will do it.

Thanks for the info illwood. Its not what I wanted to hear, but its just a fact I guess. . . For now at least.

I spoke to the developer again and he suggested as a possible work around, trying something called "Blues IME". Since I'm still waiting to get a replacement WiiMote, I haven't tested this yet. The app seems to try and give the user a bluetooth profile to allow for the support of a WiiMote controller. You can test the profile on one of the many emulators that this developer made, like the NES. emu. All of his .Emu emulators to my knowledge offer WiiMote support; as long as the phone supports it. Once I can test the work around out, I will post the results. If anyone else wants to try using this app on their EVO3D, or on any Android phone for that matter; the link is posted below. Let us know if it works for you.

Is there a status on this?

Sent from my portable lifebox.

I'm still waiting to borrow my sisters WiiMote, because mine no longer works. So I haven't tried the work around yet. I will post more info when I do.

I tried using the app that I posted, but my phone still doesn't notice the WiiMote. I did send a message to HTC through www. planetfeedback.com and hopefully this helps add some extra fire under the belly of HTC, to add WiiMote support to one of their future software updates. If you have the time, send HTC an email through Planetfeedback, to HTC. Hopefully if enough people ask for the feature, then HTC will hopefully add it.
Just make sure your email is polite, no threats or rude comments.
