Excessive battery drain

Must be US thing
But still it seems to eat a lot of power - I had issue with Facebook messenger that caused battery drain comparable with that of the screen.

I'm a huge Nexus fan and I'm due for a new phone in a month. My only concern is battery life. Google hyped it up so much last year and when they released the 3200 mAh I figured it would easily last a day with moderate to heavy use, and that Lollipop would make it even more efficient. From what I've read, the latter seems to be true, but is the battery that bad? I currently have a Nexus 4 and S4, using them as the benchmark, should I expect better or worse?

@SeigaGen, can you update your screenshot after 10 hours when moderately active? I appreciate you sharing, but as others mentioned it's an unfair comparison since it's pretty much being used as a "paperweight." thx for sharing!
