Hey guys,
I've just made the big switch from apple to android, having purchased a galaxy s5 a few days ago. Although I love the device I'm considering exchanging it for a g3. Now I know this is subject has been beaten into the ground a bit (I've been skimming the forums) but I'm hoping some of you might have some insight for me anyway.
I'm thinking about switching because even after the restocking fee the LG g3 is considerably cheaper than the s5 om verizon . I like the way the phone feels in the hand, it has more screen in a small body, knock on code, calmer colors and I prefer the camera.
I'm hesitant because battery life and viewability in sunlight are important to me (I travel often) and I've read some less than stellar reports about the G3 in these areas. I also think "well, I already have the s5 in hand, maybe I shouldn't bother."
I would really love to hear some input, perhaps some folks who have experience with both or have done an exchange for either.
many thanks!!

If I was going to trade my S5 in... I would definitely get the Nexus 6 instead of the G3. The specs on the Nexus 6are a bit better than the G3. In addition you get pure Android.. no bloatware on the Nexus 6. One last point for the Nexus 6... it will receive Android updates straight from Google long after the S5 or G3 stops getting them. I love my S5..but if I had to choose.. it would be the Nexus 6.

It's all going to depend on personal preference. I ended up going with the S5 when I was on the market for a smartphone a few months ago. I had played with the LG G3, the HTC One M8, Note 3, S5, and a Nokia Windows phone they had at the Verizon Store. I almost with the HTC One M8 but that 4MP camera on the back was really killer for me. The shots were fine for social media sharing but looked terrible once I zoomed in even by 2X.

The LG G3 felt fine to me but I didn't like the virtual buttons (call me old fashioned, I like that Samsung still includes three physical buttons), the water resistance of the S5 is something I actually wanted (I work in a drinking water research lab), the battery life was a little worrisome, the reviews I previously read put the S5's camera ahead of the G3's, and LG is notoriously bad when it comes to updating their phones to the next major versions of Android (even worse than Samsung). I did like that the G3 had a bigger display without being too much bigger than the S5 (physically) and LG doesn't quite manhandle the skinning of Android like Samsung does. The other aspect I didn't care for was the fake metal thing the G3 has going for it. I'm fine with plastic phones but I know that if I were to drop a G3 and scuff up the back, it would look a lot worse than an S5 with a scuffed back.

Plus there are far more accessories (cases, extended battery cases, headphones, etc.) made specifically for the S5.
