Experiencing Issues

I have had the Evo Shift for 8 days.
I am having occasional issues receiving calls and texts.
In two instances I made test calls and sent test texts to myself which did not go thru. I did a hard set and tried again with success however the missed calls nor texts never appeared.

I am also experiencing issues with GPS. The GPS will lose signal and search for what appears to be an infinite amount of time. If I go back and disable GPS, then restart it, it works.

Are these issues common with the shift or did I receive a bad phone?

The second one seems to be common, or at least not rare. When I use GPS Status (available from the Market) to see what's going on in real time, I see the Shift keep going through a cycle of acquiring more and more satellites up to about ten, and then losing them all and starting over.

I can't get my GPS to lock on at all..
