External CD/DVD drive?

Has anyone tried connecting one for file transfer or video watching?

Good question. I just grabbed my LG Slim DVD R/W and plugged it in with a video disk in it and nothing. I used two different file managers and neither would mount the drive. If anyone has been able to do this let us know and how you managed it.

Are you able to plug a cd drive up to acer iconia?

yes, a external drive with a USB connector.

I dont have one or I would have tested...but you prolly need one that is compatible with Linux for it to work properly.

Hadn't thought about a Linux compatible, any suggestions on One?

Sorry no recommendations, I havent looked to buy one...I mean all optical drives should be PNP devices but if I was going to buy one for this tablet, I'd buy one that was tested and says compatible with Linux on the box or description.
