External speaker distortion

I am getting distortion from sounds on the speaker. (Playing music, Ringtones, alarms, etc. The 'click' sound when you tap on an app even sounds distorted.) This started happening 2 days ago and I haven't been able to tie it to anything. Posts from 2010 had the same issue and said to toggle bluetooth off and on to fix, but that didn't solve it. None of my volume settings are above 50 on a scale to 100. I experienced some distortion on the earpiece a couple of weeks ago, but a reboot fixed that issue.

I received the OTA EL30 update last night and that did not fix it.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Possible your external speaker has seen the EOL (End of life).

If you have TEP its a quick fix and shouldn't require a refurb. I had mine replaced twice during its 9 month.

Thanks Paul. I'll take it in and have them look at it. That experience ranks somewhere between a long, slow painful root canal and getting my eyes poked out with a sharp stick

Shouldn't be too bad... A good repair tech will probably have a few extra's laying around in his spare parts bin.. They grabbed one out of a Epic 4g with a crushed screen being sent in for a refurb exchange and threw it in mine and it was good as new.

Otherwise they should be able to order one and have it there in a day or two.. I would recommend against a refurb if you have a say so in the matter.

I'm going to strongly oppose a refurb, if for no other reason, so that I won't have to buy my ghost armor again! My only opposition to the store is that the wait times are usually quite long, but it is what it is.

Paul's diagnosis was spot on. External speaker had to be replaced. We don't have insurance on our company phones, so it cost $35

$35, well its not the cheapest for a lousy little speaker but it could of been a lot worse.
