Extra permissions step after update

Why was the extra step to allow or deny permissions added? There can't be a good reason for this. Why spend the time and energy in making the process more difficult for your customers?

How does adding an extra step give me more control? I had the same control before the added step.

Because now you can allow only when app is in use a permission.

Welcome to Android Central! Keep in mind that this is a one-time ask for each permission -- when you choose your preference, it will remember it (but you can still change it in Settings>Apps​).
