Extremely slow charging issue on my Galaxy Tab S2 9.7

The answer is that the supplied charger puts out 1.0 amps, but tablets this size need at least 2.4 amps.

It would seem that as long as the tablet is powered on, it uses too much to allow for a full charge, so for a full charge with the 1.0 amp charger, turn your tablet off completely while charging.

I was saddened when I saw batter levels decreasing even when using the device with the charger plugged in. The charger must be powerful enough to charge the tablet while using it actively otherwise the charger is too weak.

I recommend looking for a charger with at least 2.4 amps output.

If you still have issues charging your tablet, the problem could be the micro USB cable itself (not the charger plug).

Not all micro USB cables are the same. There's a whole discussion about it on another post here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/284055-we-need-special-samsung-usb-cable-charge-2amps.html

I've had issues charging my Samsung S2 Tablet tablet since I bought it about a year ago. From the very start, I could only use the Samsung original cables to charge the tablet (and one other generic micro usb cable I had).
All my other cables wouldn't charge the tablet - it would look like it was charging when plugged in, but the battery level would never increase and would actually drop.
A couple of months ago, even the original Samsung cables I had stopped working. I tried several different micro USB cables I bought from Ebay in the last few weeks (a couple of which were also supposedly genuine Samsung cables), but none of them worked either.

I came across a site the other day that mentioned that Anker cables are quite good. I bought one and tried it yesterday, and it works!! It charges my tablet as quickly (if not quicker) than the original Samsung cables.
I bought mine from an online shop called CableGeek (I'm in Australia). This is the one I bought: https://www.cablegeek.com.au/shop/cables/microusb/anker-micro-usb-to-usb-cable-0-9m/

I've also heard that Monoprice make good quality cables. I've ordered some from a shop in the US which I'm currently waiting for.

I faced this problem .
The problem is not in the tab s2 .It is in the charger , buy another charger and it'll charge much faster .

Hi guys,

Got the Samsung Galaxy tab S2 9.7 last week and I'm having charging issues. After 24 hours I'm now at 88% charged. Check the image, it says it's gonna take over 16 hours for a full charge. Tried 3 different chargers, did a soft reset and it doesn't matter if it's on or off.

What now? Anyone else had similar issues?

Thanks for the help!

My Tab S2 also started this but only after a year. Try using the tablets original charger (the one that came with the Tab S2) they usualy charge fast also try Ultra Power Saving mode it tends to help and also switch on Airplane mode

I have had exactly the same issues with my tablet. It started with buying one in July 2016 & that went wrong so the shop were very helpful & replaced that unit. The new one developed issues after 2/3 months, but they wouldn't help further nor would Samsung. So I still have issues of long charging hours, charging & using it at the same time the charge value goes down not up. When fully charged it doesn't take that long for the percentage to go down. So frustrating!

Hey guys. I think we may be looking at a planned obsolescence situation here. I have two identical Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 10.1 tablets. They both started to show signs of weak charging at exactly the same time. I have a little volt amp meter that I can plug into my charger to test how much current the tablet is trying to use. I found out that my phone will use an amp where as the tablets both will only use 0.46 amps using the same charger. Now here is the kicker! I put the tablet accidentally into safe mode. And found out that in safe mode the tablet will charge over an amp! If I leave it plugged in and charging and reboot it back into normal mode, the tablet will continue to charge at 1 amp or more. However, if I unplug it and plug it back in, then it will revert back to .46 amps again. This sounds to me like Samsung or my wireless carrier T-Mobile has decided to mess with these tablets in order to get me to upgrade them. I would like to know if anyone here can duplicate what I found. Please reply to this message if you have results to report.

Mine just started after I did a software update. I had software updates turned off for over a year, last week I decided to do an update, and now it has the same symptoms described here. I would use primarily a 1.2amp or 1amp charger, knowing it would charge show-ish because low amperage, but it would always charge. Now, it gets to about 26% and I'll check it a few hours later, and it'll be at 15% -- yes, discharging. I have not been able to get it past 26% since, and even while plugged in it wont stay on for more than about 90min.

4 charger units
6 charging cables
7 wall outlets

all 168 combinations...

Factory reset, cleared cache, etc etc.

Out of warranty.

It's an awesome Tablet (T813) I loved it, when it worked. :-[

Hoping to find a magic solution here....

Added Disclosure: I'm still open to the idea that the charging port may have been damaged coincidentally during the same time, not to feed any conspiracy or anything.
