Extremely upset

I have no problems with it. Looks like Verizon's answer to the Evo. Nothing ground breaking but a great device for Verizon to have for those who like the Evo. Where the Bionic looks like a device to compete with the iPhones front facing camera.
Seems like smart moves by Verizon to me.... They now have two phones that compare to Sprints and AT&T's best selling phones.

Compare, maybe, but not outdo. Attractive as it is, the Thunderbolt is now old technology (cute but slow-witted, so to speak), while the Bionic as a device is clearly inferior to the Atrix, and destined (if not designed) to become obsolete more quickly (and will even be released later than the Atrix...go figure). None of these phones will attract folks to Verizon from another carrier, which should have been VzW's strategy. People will make decisions based on the local signal strength (and LTE will eventually have its advantages), and VzW is a strong competitor in most areas, but I think they dropped the ball on their 1H device decision-making.

Oh, and no world phones in their new lineup (while AT&T's and TMo's are inherently roaming-capable). Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I was more disappointed in the fact that none of the phones were qwerty sliders. I was eying the Merge but I saw it might have been canned. Anyone know any rumors about a slider with LTE for Verizon?

I feel the same way. I was hoping for a VZW LTE/world capable merge type phone and not one with a 4.3" screen. I think that's just too big. By the way, I don't understand how putting one of those huge phones in a jean pocket is possible, unless you are hoping to impress people for your lack of something else. Either a 4" or 3.7" screen is fine. Come on HTC. Bring on a LTE Merge for VZW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The announcement of iPhone on their network was probably the major news they had. And I think it should be. While I most certainly think of it as an old phone by now, most consumers would still buy it.

And the roaming isn't really a big deal at all. They have business-oriented handsets available already, and for the rest (the majority) shouldn't really care about roaming a whole lot.

True, for someone who never travels (for business OR pleasure), not a big deal. But for the rest of us, the Pro is flawed as a personal device, and the D2G has other issues (e.g., battery). That means that as of March 1st until ???, the only US carriers that will offer up-to-date global-capable phones will be AT&T and perhaps TMo.

I just hope in the near future, all phones are bought separately like the Nexus 1. Having some on this carrier, and some on that is asinine. I don't have to pick and choose my computer for Comcast service vs. Qwest internet service.

No way it will happen in the near future because of the varying wireless standards and frequencies between the carriers. And if someone like Samsung came out with a Galaxy 2 which was identical in all respects except for the onboard radios, and sold at Best Buy, etc., most if not all carriers would not let it on their networks.
