Exynos 5 Octa Core Will Support LTE

Via: Samsung Exynos confirmed LTE Exynos 5 Octa | SamMobile

Supply of the Octa Core wasn't able to meet the demand of the phone so 70% of the S4s have Snapdragon chips.

And 20 bands at that :( , wonder if the octa chip actually costs samsung more to build than buying s600 chips from qualcomm. You would think the opposite. At any rate they should work hard to remedy this or maybe even make 2 models per carrier so we can choose with our wallets which we want....that would be cool, except the fact it would make things tough for the hacking community.

Man, I wonder how many people are going to buy one and not know what version they have. I also wonder how many will care. I know "tech-heads" will. So is it possible that the same carrier will have 2 versions of the device? Or will the chips be segregated by region/carrier?

Is the LTE Octa the same as the standard Octa?
If not, delay the S4 and make all S4s have 4G LTE and Exynos!

So can one buy the international version and get AT&T LTE?

Once again, its beyond ridiculous that we have to buy a different version of a flagship device to get the processor we want.

I agree. Just make 1 device with the same internals. Of course antenna will vary for the networks but other hardware should remain the same. I don't get it at all. Not only does it screw it up for the customers but also for the companies and carriers that have to market and support the device and developers. Just craziness. Fragmented software was one thing but hardware? Getting ridiculous.

I really have no beef with the Snapdragon 600 chip anymore, but they still don't get it. This is why Apple succeeds. They don't ship different versions of the iPhone 5. I get that they had to last year, but with the Note 2 supporting LTE and Exynos there is really no excuse. If the chip has delays, then delay your product.

I have had nothing but bad experience with Qualcomm chips. Samsung doesn't optimize their TW software to run smoothly on Qualcomm chips, PERIOD.

Apparently, still not all country`s are getting the Exynos 5 Octa still....
I, personally, would like to have it delayed, just for the Exynos CPU.
Snapdragon is excellent and stable, but Exynos would power the S4 better.
That`s just me, though.........

I have heard that the Major reason behind not using the Exynos Octa in the US version is that the US Towers are much farther appart and combined with the power consumption of the Octa the battery life would be to short....

Heck, they should try a Evo 4G, Running 4G on a stock Battery if they want to see a "Short Battery Life"....

It wouldn't be that short.
I heard the S4 could last three days with normal usage.
I'm just saying that I rather have no LTE, and just Exynos with 3G.
4G isn't that important.

Also, apparently there are 3 versions of the S4.

GT-i9500- Exynos 5 Octa clocked at 1.6ghz. No LTE
GT-i9505- Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.9ghz. LTE.
SHV-300S- Exynos 5 Octa clocked at 1.8ghz. LTE.

Looking out for the SHV model, definitely.

I haven't heard anything like that. The reason is simply because they couldn't make enough chips to meet the demand of the phone, so they scattered the Exynos I9500 into different countries. Mostly those with no/weak LTE.

The Note 3 will have the octa core though, definitely.

I've heard about the 300S, apparently Korean phones have a different way of LTE than we do? Idk I can't remember word for word but what I got out of it was that the Korean model wouldn't work on US LTE.

GT-I9500 ? International Galaxy S4 with no LTE and with Exynos 5 Octa 1.6GHz CPU
GT-I9505 ? International Galaxy S4 with LTE and Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz CPU
GT-I9508 ? Chinese version of the Galaxy S4
SHV-300 ? Korean Version for SK Telecom/KT/LG Telecom with LTE and Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz
SCH-I545 ? Verizon US Galaxy S4 with LTE and Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz
SPH-720 ? Sprint US Galaxy S4 with LTE and Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz
SGH-I337 ? AT&T US Galaxy S4 with LTE and Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz

Yep, it's the Korean version.

Yep, I think the US uses 700mhz, and 1800mhz. version as the former, and At&t for the latter. Not sure about Sprint though.
The 1800mhz spectrum is used on other countries, such as the UK.
Not sure what the Koreans use though.
