Hi I have the Exynos octa core S7 in the UK. I have installed cpu-z and have noticed core 7 and 8 say stopped and don't appear to be running. I have installed another cpu app and that says core 7 and 8 are asleep.

Would you say this is normal????? My thoughts are under normal usage it would not need to be running all 8 cores. The core 7 and 8 are put to sleep say like when a pc/laptop is asleep and they wake up when in use which would probably under very heavy usage. Im guessing this is to save battery. I'm asking because it alarmed me when in cpu-Z it said the last 2 cores has stopped and where inactive but I supoose it make sence.

Do anyone have any info or feedback on this.

Thanks.

I just used the double window mode with cpu-Z and a few other apps running. I saw core 7 and 8 being used every now and then so I think I was right with my initial thought. So I answered my own question......

Anyway hope you are all enjoying your S7's

Is there any way to tell which CPU is present, without installing an app?

Thx.

Which country did you get the phone in? I think it is mainly US who only have the 820 with the majority of the world having the Exynos.

Thx, all.

Dowloaded AIDA64 and confirmed that my S7 has the SnapDragon 820. It's a shame that Samsung crippled the Quick Charge 3.0 spec on these devices.

Necessary evil. Snapdragon 820 already has been shown to have notably higher GPU gaming performance than Exynos 8890. If it had faster charging too, every review site and every tech enthusiast would consider the Exynos versions pretty much an overpriced S7 'lite' and the perception would spread to the general public, greatly hurting sales outside of America.
