"Eye-less" Incredible :(

Hi everyone.

I finally got my phone and, of course, I love it. I have noticed on minor problem, however. The light on the top of the phone has never ever lit up.

I checked "Settings -> Sound & Display -> Notification Flash" and everything in the "Flash LED light for notifications" is checked, but I tried it this morning and the light doesn't light at all.

Have I missed some other setting of some kind?

...or is my phone defective.....(Hope not. Even though I have insurance, I really don't feel like waiting weeks again....)

Humm mine only seems to come on when I get a text or it's charging. I like it was getting very annoyed at my BB because of that. Maybe it's app dependent on your phone I use no stock apps for messages etc. Have you checked settings inside your messaging/email etc apps?

Does it come on when you plug your phone in to charge? If not then i'd say you have a bad phone because I don't think you can turn on or off the light that indicates charging.

I haven't checked those settings, so I'll take a look when I'm home.

The tiny orange/green light comes on without a problem when charging, but the big red light doesn't come on at all no matter what.

...this is sounding more and more like I have a defective phone. -.-

Err, I hate to break it to you, but the big red stripe up top isn't a light. It's just part of the design. The only thing that should light up is the small LED light that flashes orange or green.

If your little light comes on thats it. The "big red light" your refering to I believe is the sensitivty device for your automatic screen brightness (IR sensor). the little charge light is the only "light" on the front of the phone.

Ah ok now we are making some sense here. There is only one led area on your phone it is left of the "Verizon" marking. The two on the left of the "Verizon" marking are you proximity and light sensors. They do not light up.

I think there was another post around here like this. That poster thought the big red bar above the verizon label was an "led bar". It is not. It is actually the earpiece mesh grill. The two other, hardly visable sensors to the left of the label are not led's either. They are for the auto brightness and proximity control. The small led to right that lights when it charges is the only led on the phone (aside from the actual screen).

mine lights up with any notice coming in including charging. it's soooooo tiny though. i'm used to the moto droid one that's more of an actual alert.
