Face unlock.....how good is it? (under Smart Lock)

Hello everyone....IM A VERY HAPPY NEW owner of a Pixel 2XL. Was curious if anyone has used the face ID under smart Lock? I turned it on and have been using it, seems to be working....surprisingly well. Had my wife try to unlock it with her face and it says not recognized and asks for either finger print or passcode.

Is this even worth having on? Am I running a risk if someone gets my phone and scans my face?

And in general has anyone ever used this feature. Thanks!

There was some YT video on how face scans can be easily cracked. Some PPL use different types of mask until one of them matches the locked one or they have family members with similar facial features unlock them.

I have personally never used the feature, but supposedly they aren't as hard to crack as a complex password.

Face ID works well on my two iPhone Xes. Doesn’t always work but neither does Touch ID or my Mate 9’s fp scanner.

I have a granddaughter who only used it a few times.

She said it was annoying to have to hold your phone up to your face to unlock it.

Personally, it strikes me as just a novelty for folks to show off with.

I have a lot of confidence in my fingerprint scanner on my Pixel 2 XL.

Interesting....touch ID is spot on with the Pixel 2 XL

You mean the facial recognition? FaceID works well on my iPhone X.

My network administrator disabled that feature on the Pixel 2 XL when I added my work email onto my device so I was never able to use it.

Just to make clear from my original post....I'm talking about the face ID on the pixel 2xl under smart Lock. Not face ID in general, I know that face ID works good on the iPhone x. Sorry for the confusion!

By the time my Pixel 2 XL gets anywhere near my face it's already been unlocked by my fingerprint. I don't have a real use case for that feature.

yeah I used a similar facial/Iris recognition feature on my note 8 but much rather prefer the fingerprint scanner on my pixel 2xl. It's probably the best I've used.

I use the face unlock on the pixel 2 along with auto app to remove the swipe up requirement once it does recognize your face. It can be tricked with a photo (I tried) but no one uses my phone so I don't mind.
