Facebook added all my friends to my phone's contact list

yeah. it isnt an issue within onboard gmail cause you have to start typing the name. with yahoo you can browse through a list and that is where the issue lies. I guess it is time to just move to gmail and make it easier

don't you have to pay for certain services like forwarding to another address, etc? They wanted to hit my wife up for that.....

I tried it and it didn't help. in people i only see my gmail people. but in Phone, i see everyone.

all you have to do is go to settings.>account & sync > check off auto sync . then click on fb >sync contacts>remove account. once its done add fb again and ur fb contacts wil wont be there

After you've initially sync'd with FB contacts, go to People>menu>view and then deselect FB.

By doing this I don't see any of the FB contacts, but can link my google contact list with the FB contact info, if I chose. The FB contacts don't show up in the contact list by going through people or when viewing through the phone.

I have a related question:

My Inc comes tomorrow. I've already prepped my Google contacts to be synced properly. I do NOT want my phone to sync my FB contacts into my phone, as I have close to 1k friends and don't want all their numbers in my phone. However, I would like for my contacts to be "linked" to their FB accounts if at all possible. On my current BB Curve 8330, the FB app will "link" the contacts with their FB counterparts, but it doesn't change any numbers or add any new numbers.

Is this possible with the way Inc is set up?

There is a separate sync option for linking friends images ect from the contacts in your phone, and actually syncing the facebook contacts themselves INTO your phone. So just make sure to uncheck the sync facebook contacts one when setting up and you are good.

I tried it and it didn't help. in people i only see my gmail people. but in Phone, i see everyone.

The "view" control in "people" will only control which contacts are visible in the "all" tab of people. If you go to phone and type on the number pad to spell a name, it'll filter all contacts that fit the number sequence that you've entered regardless of what the view control is set to.

If you're trying to do something other that what I've described above, give me more details and I'll see if there's some other way to do it.

For anyone who wants to delete facebook contacts on the main phonelist on the Incredible, go into programs then setup then click on next, skipping language, onscreen keyboard, internet connection etc. until you reach set up social network and uncheck facebook. My contacts disappeared and I was still able to log on to facebook. Hope this helps.

Just a bump. friend got an inc and had this happen.
My brother and I (me since launch) never had an issue nor did we even get prompted for the FB contacts to be added.

you can do it from your contacts on the web.....if there are multiple contact entries for the same person you just hit the merge button.

Are you using the People app? If so, just go to the "View" menu and you should be able to deselect Facebook.

Go into the FB application, menu button, settings...and under "Other Settings" at the bottom there will be a Sync Contacts option. Click that and then choose the "Remove Facebook data" option.
