Facebook app not remembering notification sound

I have an S8+ on Verizon.

I set a custom notification sound for each app that I get notifications from so I can aurally differentiate each of them. All of my apps remember the custom sound I set, except for Facebook. It keeps reverting back to the default notification sound within hours of setting the custom notification sound. I don't know why it's doing this and whether or not this is an issue with the app or the phone. Given that only the Facebook app is giving me this issue, I'm inclined to think it's just an issue with the app.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Try making sure that the sound itself is on the device and not on external storage. I had that problem once and anytime I'd have the sd card dismounted or when my phone thought it was dismounted (like plugging it into my computer), it would reset the sound to something locally on the device

This issue is with the notification sounds built into the phone itself.

Hey, I have the same issue. I just got my first Android phone a week ago and changed every notification sound. It works with every app (WhatsApp, Twitter, Calendar, Mail, ..) but Facebook changes it back to my standard ringtone every other time. It happens so often that I have to change it every day. It's really annoying !
I think I'm going to turn off these FB-notifications at all, unless anyone got a fix?

And I'm having exactly the same issue on my S7 edge. It's only Facebook that won't remember the notification ringtone setting. All other apps retain my chosen sounds perfectly.

In my case -and perhaps in each of yours as well- the FB sound I've set will remain in place until I either stop the FB app (from the active apps window or from the Settings > Apps > Facebook management screen) or reboot my phone. So it seems that the ringtone choice for the Facebook app is retained only while it's running in the device's RAM.

Just yesterday, I posted in another section that I thought I'd resolved the problem by updating to the latest beta version of the Facebook app. But I was wrong. And that's because, strangely, once the update completed I found that my ringtone selection remained in place even after closing the FB app and re-launching it... but that only lasted until I closed and re-launched the app again. Just as prior to the update, it then reverted to the default sound. So for whatever reason, there was an initial retention of my ringtone selection after the beta update was in place, and I jumped the gun when I reported the problem was fixed.

It's a bit comforting to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. Has anyone tried a factory reset yet?

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one with this issue! For a time I thought there was something wrong with my phone, but it was after I realized that all my other apps remember my selected notification ringtone that I determined it was a problem with the Facebook app. I hoped each update would fix this issue, but they didn't. Speaking of updates, why does Facebook update their apps so often? There doesn't seem to be any difference in functionality and the bugs/glitches are still there after each update.

Yes, same problem, it worked for 3 years, then I removed and reloaded app and now it reverts to a tone instead of my custom notification
