Facebook bugs - "Authorize HTC Sense"

Re: Facebook bugs - "Authorize HTC Sense"

So..............I rang HTC about this problem after trying everything that everyone suggested........ they talked me through a "fix" that included getting an IMEI number off my phone (I don't even know what that means...........), and so far so good!

So what was the fix? We're all dying to know how to get rid of this problem once and for all.

Re: Facebook bugs - "Authorize HTC Sense"

i have the evo 4g lte thru sprint and i still have this issue

This is seriously getting annoying. I figured I could ride it out for a little while until it gets sorted out. Bit I'm still getting this error.

Is there anyone at AC that can contact HTC for a response?

It is annoying. But it doesn't particularly bother me anymore. Only downside is not having Facebook in Blinkfeed which I've never had, so can't miss it. I just disable 'Facebook for HTC Sense' and use the standard Facebook for Android app as normal. Once the annoying notification is turned off, the impact to my phone is pretty much nil.

Requested an update from HTC. Nothing new to report at this time. I was advised I would be notified once a fix is in place :/

I just simply tell it to not sync everytime. I log into Facebook and... Yeah that's it. See the error only during login. Ain't so bad.

Sent from my T-Mobile HTC One using AC Forums.

I, also, tell it not to sync, but the error still pops up every other day or so. It actually did it twice yesterday.

You should be able to disable notifications for "Facebook for HTC Sense". That should stop the annoying pop-up forever. If you have the standard Facebook for Android app (they will be listed separately in "Manage apps") you should still get the desired Facebook notifications and only get rid of that error message. I have done this and Facebook works as it should (calendar, contacts, notifications etc) but I never get the authorization error pop up.

OK, now I got it. I was worried that I would stop getting notifications. I just now disabled notifications for Sense. I'll see if I get my normal notifications now. Hopefully this works!

But a question: If I will still get FB notifications, what does Facebook for Sense actually do???

Ha.....a good question. I haven't been able to work that out yet either. I assume it does some Blinkfeed stuff but other than that I've no idea.

Not to mention I am still unable to sync FB calendar with my One. It still says unavailable. Lame!!!

I haven’t received a ticket update from HTC as of yet. However, I went into FB this morning from my PC and deleted the HTC Sense app from the App Center. I selected authorize from the error message screen (on phone) and the error disappeared. I went into BlinkFeed and was actually able to post a message to FB without the error returning. Also, the calendar within Accounts & Sync for FB synched for the first w/o an error message.

Now keep in mind the steps I took above (deleting HTC Sense app from FB and re-authorizing app on phone) were done many many times before and never saw these results. As you can see from my other posts I went through every step known to HTC to try and resolve. While this resolve is a good thing, it’s a shallow victory as I do not know for sure what fixed it. If I had received an update to my phone or a response to my ticket stating a fix was in place, I’d have more smiles all around. I can only hope that others may soon have the same results as me. Good luck

I’m leaving my ticket with HTC open just a little bit longer to allow more testing on my part.

IT WORKED!!! Hooooray!!!! Thank you!

I, too, tried this a gazillion times before, but it works now for some reason.

Also worked for me! Like you guys I'd tried all this previously. Tried it again tonight and it said it had failed at first, and then I refreshed Blinkfeed and.....boom-Facebook posts were there for the first time ever!

It indeed appears to be working! Blinkfeed, calendar sync, and no authorization error with notifications turned on.

Guys, I read all your messages. I tried to do all instructions but at the end problem is still visible. What could be the reason? Maybe someone could do the list what to do exactly? I am waiting for some answers : )

This may not help everyone (or anyone) but I ran into this issue (and indeed this thread) after doing a full phone reset yesterday and banging my head against the wall trying to get Facebook to authorise my phone. I use any.do for my task management and the calendar sync issue that kept fouling up my HTC Sense authorization disappeared this morning when I opened any.do and connected it to Facebook. Everything seems to be syncing without issue now for me and I'll definitely let people know if that's not the case but I hope this helps some people for whom other fixes are not working.
I'm definitely bookmarking this thread for future reference

I think I figured out whats happening with the error. If you had an HTC phone in the past, there would be another HTC Sense app that was authorized. When I was in my list of apps, there were two HTC Sense apps. I think the permissions were conflicting between the old HTC Sense app and the new one. I deleted the old one clicked authorize on my phone. It worked.
