Facebook (build 141046) randomly downloading to my phone...anyone else?

The same thing has been going on with my galaxy s3 on Tmobile for the past day or more. Restarted my phone, force closed downloads, and it just started going again. But I connected to wifi and it almost instantly went away. Guess that's the fix! That's really strange though. Anyone know why that would stop like that? I was thinking maybe there's a bug in the build update that has trouble with cellular connections.

Settings / security / uncheck "unknown sources"

Apparently this update is only for those who allow sideloading of apps (it wouldn't be possible without that, since it's circumventing the Play Store).

Every time I cancelled the update, it would just pop up again...disabling sideloading stopped it. I considered just installing it and being done with it...but I would rather force Facebook to play nicely and not allow this sneaky move.

Damn Facebook. Like everyone else I force stopped the download then when it started again I force stopped and uninstalled it from the play store so it wouldn't be tempted to start back up again. I figured I could always go back and install it later after I find out what all this facebook sneakiness is about. I thought the problem was solved unitl I tried to go to the play store today and it crashed, and continues to crash every time I open it even after a couple of restarts and a battery pull. I'm also getting the error "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped." I did a android central search and found that most people could resolve that issue by going to applications manager and making sure that downloads is enabled but mine already is enabled. Any ideas? Do you think the facebook and gapps issue are related?

Mione was doing it 5 whole days!!! I finally turned on wifi and connected to my wifi network (it only works it you connect to a network). it went away instantly!

i have a kyocera rise and it was doing it on mine as well, until i WiFi-ed it and it completed pretty quick. I had already tried uninstalling facebook and forcing stop on download manager. It was even trying to download app after I uninstalled FB and then rebooted my phone, so there was no application available to update too. Weird

since you closed the download manager, you are facing this issue.. go to settings-> application manager -> all and scroll down to Download manager. Enable it and your phone will start working properly,.

Unfortunately, this will start facebook (build 141046) again. Same thing happened with me. and I am still struggling with Facebook build issue

i tried it.
But after few mins , same thing reappears.

Pls help
this has been going on since last 10 days

Do you want to continue to use the Facebook app, or get rid of it? If you want to get rid of it, try the following. I don't know if it will work, so bear with me:

First, uncheck the "unkown sources" option under Security
In application manager, Clear data and cache for download manager and force stop. Then tap the disable button.
Uninstall the old Facebook app.
Re-enable download manager

If you want to keep using facebook, your best bet is probably to just download the latest update from the Play store. But if you don't want the new version, try doing all of the above except the uninstall step. Or look at posts 31 and 32 in this thread for alternatives to the official FB app.

thank you so much mine has been doing this for the past 3 days and it is driving me nuts but now thanks to you it has stopped, so happy right now... you are a life saver
