Hi all,
Hope someone can help me here. Since upgrading to S25, one particular (important to me) app won't show notifications anymore.
I have attached screenshots of my settings. Please can anyone advise? The app company will not help me as they say the issue must be with my phone and not on their end.
Thanks in advance,
S

Welcome to Android Central! Can you confirm that someone is trying to send you a message on that app but you're not getting the notifications for it?

Yes I can confirm this. As well as that, the app used to send notifications for reminders but, again, it no longer does so. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked the app is up to date.

I noticed in your duplicate post (https://forums.androidcentral.com/threads/one-app-wont-show-notifications.1083850/) that there was another screenshot there showing the Notification Categories, where only Messages shows up. I'm assuming notifications for reminders would be a separate category.

I'm not familiar with the app in question -- is there an option in the app's own settings to turn on reminders in the first place?

Thank you for the speedy reply. There are no options for notifications within the app itself. And there are no other categories under the app settings on my phone either.
This issue only began when upgrading to the S25, previously on the s22, everything worked as it should, with me receiving all notifications..

Do you remember seeing other Notification Categories on the S22? I realize this is something you might not have paid close attention to on the previous phone.

I know this sounds like overkill but it's worked for me in the past. You shouldn't have to do this but it definitely can't hurt. In the app info area, force stop, clear data, then uninstall. Reboot phone. Reinstall app and try again.

You have no other app that organizes, hides, collects notifications correct?

Also, again it shouldn't matter but do you still have the old device and if so is it still receiving notifications from this same app?

Good luck and update us please!

Hi,
Thank you for the replies. I have done as stated above with battery and force stop etc. Still no notifications appearing.
I cannot remember what the categories were like on my S22. That phone stopped working and crashed completely, unable to switch on now..
Thanks

what app??

Check to see if the app has been put to sleep. Sleeping apps will not send notifications unless they are open and will stop running in the background. Follow these steps to check if the app has been put to sleep.

Settings>Device Care>Battery (tap the word)>Background Usage Limits>Sleeping apps/Deep Sleeping apps. Check both lists.

Thank you. The app isn't sleeping as I open it regularly. Nonetheless, I checked these settings. It's not in the sleeping apps or deep sleeping apps section.

It could just be that the app isn't fully compatible with the phone. Most likely not fully optimized for One UI 8 specifically. I experienced this when One UI 8 arrived for my phone. I had at least 1 app warn me that it was, either untested or not optimized, for this software version. I know you communicated with the app Developers already but how specific did you get with them? Did you mention your device, OS version and UI?

If it isn't a setting, the app hasn't been put to sleep, and the app dev. is telling you it should be compatible here are the only two other things I can think to suggest. Clear your device's partition cache. Your device uses this cache for system updates and there are times when things don't clear out of this cache location and that can cause problems. To clear your partition cache, Power off the device>press and hold the volume up button and the power button>release the power button when the Samsung splash screen appears>release the volume up button when the phone has fully booted>use the volume buttons to navigate and the power button to select>Wipe Partition Cache>reboot the phone normally>test.

The second thing I would suggest would be to uninstall the app and install it again. When you switch devices it's doing a lot to bring you to the new device including looking for app updates for the new device. Uninstalling the app and freshly installing it again could fix any slight bugs that may have happened during the initial switch and patch.

PS on a side note. Sleeping apps still work. Samsung is just aggressive with running apps in the background and by adding apps to these lists, they stop running in the background which includes sending notifications, and it stops them from running with the screen off. They do this to save battery but what they don't tell you is that these things happen when apps are added to these lists and it requires manual changes to return them to normal.

I would reach out to the Dev of the app since all phone settings for notifications look like you've been through.
