Facebook keeps auto-installing

So I've deleted the apps and turned off all things Facebook that the phone is dieing me when I go to settings and do a search for Facebook. It shows:

Facebook services
Facebook app manager
Facebook app installer

I've disabled all three but still get Facebook installed on my phone every couple of days.

What is up? This is some persistent bloatware.

Does Facebook come preinstalled on that phone? If so, were you actually able to uninstall it completely, or were you only uninstalling updates? Preinstalled apps often can't be uninstalled completely -- if they've had updates, then the Uninstall button is typically just to uninstall updates, leaving the factory installed version. Afterwards, you might be able to disable the app.

All come pre-installed and can't be uninstalled. I turned them off, which I assume means that they aren't on, but Facebook still finds a way to download every so often.

I'm on a TMobile locked S20 Ultra

Right, but I mean the actual Facebook app -- you're able to completely uninstall it, or does it only uninstall updates? (Those apps you mention seem to be adjuncts to the main Facebook app.)

Check your Galaxy Apps Store and see if there's a setting there to automatically update apps.

Also, check for any T-Mobile preinstalled apps that might give you options to install certain apps, like AppSelector: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/plans-features/t-mobile-appselector

thank you! i went ahead and deleted app selector. i didn't know it was something i could get rid of. thanks for that!

Great! Yeah, I just remembered that app, based on another recent thread. Kinda sneaky and useless -- at least you can uninstall it!

go to settings, search app selector, get it outta there

I declined. I can't even find the app in the Google or Galaxy stores.

I want to see if it's still in my phone, but it's like it doesn't exist. Is it something that comes with the setup and can't be downloaded after the fact? App selector by t mobile isn't in the store

If you don't see it in the Settings>Apps list (after tapping Menu>Show System), then it's probably not on the phone. It sounds like the initial notification to use it would probably install it on the phone (but I can't say for sure, since I don't have a T-Mobile branded phone).

Yeah. That's kinda disturbing, that even when you delete an app, it can bring itself back.

On my AT&T variant the FB junk is uninstallable.
Package Disabler keeps me from ever seeing it...
Otherwise FB probably be frolicking in the background

PD MDM lets me see things not shown in settings/apps like a Amazon tracker that can't be uninstalled.
