Facebook keeps auto-installing

Does it only come back after a system update? If so, I wonder if it keeps getting included in the update package T-Mobile pushes out.

that could be it, but i haven't had any system updates recently...unless it's hidden inside another app/description. i mean, i guess i should be okay with having it in my phone and just hide it away in a folder somewhere, but it's the principle of the matter...nothing should be able to weasel it's way into your phone without your consent, and it seems like facebook and app selector are doing exactly that.

thank you for your help though. i appreciate it.

On my AT&T variant the FB junk is uninstallable.
Package Disabler keeps me from ever seeing it...
Otherwise FB probably be frolicking in the background:(

PD MDM lets me see things not shown in settings/apps like a Amazon tracker that can't be uninstalled.

i'm not anywhere as literate or proficient as you android and programming veterans on this site. i would probably end up deleting something that was crucial to the system and end up bricking my phone.

i've always wondered about that...if there was a resource where one could go to find ALL the spam and bloatware in a specific carrier and phone model and identify what was and wasn't safe to uninstall.

I just read and play with it.
With the disabler nothing is deleted except the app shortcut, which reappears if you enable it again.
Even data settings are still intact.
A little care is needed though. I've had different blockers over the years, this particular one has been pretty stable.
To do updates you should disable the blocker first!

If something glitches with (or because of) the blocker you need to turn the blocker off as a system administrator.
It still runs in safe mod too... So if you get warning message like "android kernel has shutdown unexpectedly" you need to navigate to Security between popups. It can get a little dicey when it's doing it every second. Resetting it fixes the issue.
If you can't do that a hard reset is probably in your future.

i aw "kernel" and had a panic attack. i'll leave the system modifications, rooting, flashing and all that other stuff to you professionals...the most i'll do is play with the nova launcher settings =/. but yeah, thank you for the heads-up on the app and how to use it. maybe i'll try it on an older device.

As long as you are aware it could do this and know where to go it's no big deal. Wakes you up though.
In Pie:
Settings>security>other settings>system administrators
This particular disabler has been very stable. Be wary of the free ones though.
It's saves data, power and frees up system resources too.
