Facebook "like" feature

This isn't really a phone question. I'm trying to understand why when someone posts comments for a photo or "likes" a photo, I'm seeing comments that others have made which are completely irrelevant to the picture, and are several months old. I've sent feedback to Facebook about this, but I'll probably never get a response.

do you mean on your photos or their photos? Do you get a notification about or do you mean that you are just seeing comments under a photo?
