Hi
This app is getting worse and worse.
Now, in SOME posts I no longer have the option to sort the comments; in others the option is "most relevant selected" but, besides not having selected anything, it doesn't give me the possibility to choose.
I've searched the Internet for a solution and I haven't been able to find one, many "solutions" no longer apply because the App has been changed.
Any help is welcome,

Facebook apps have long been notorious for being buggy. Send feedback to Meta about this -- there's absolutely no guarantee they'll pay attention and fix it, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Have you considered using the mobile website for Facebook? That's what I use, and it's possible to choose how to sort comments there.

This is what I do, but sadly it isn't much better. The current problem is there's a bug that will not let you comment on some posts. It's not persistent, so you may be able to comment, then later can not reply the that same post, but then later still the option comes back. When commenting isn't available, I can go to that post in the regular FB app and comment.

There's also a very long standing issue where the mobile site does not nested comments properly (if at all). That usually isn't a problem unless it's a big topic with lots of nested replies.

And then there's a recent intended change where you are no longer able to create a marketplace listing on the mobile site. You are now required to use the app to do so.

I also use the mobile website after giving up a long time ago on both the Facebook and Facebook Lite apps. IMHO they are both terribly inconsistent apps. Meta "fixes" one thing today and "breaks" 2 things tomorrow with their constant fooling around with code, seemingly just for the sake of change or to increase revenue with no real benefit for the majority of users (reminds me a bit of Microsoft in that way).

While there are also frequent problems with the mobile website, I have personally found it to be far less frustrating to use than the apps. An added benefit for me is that I also use less battery and storage using the mobile website instead of the maddening Meta apps.
