Facebook photo posts are rotated

Quick question...every photo I take in portrait form looks fine on the phone but when I post to FB, it rotates it. Interestingly, once posted to someone else's timeline, Facebook won't let me rotate it. I'm assuming that the phone is storing it in landscape and presents it in portrait when looked at on the phone but uploads the "raw" photo in landscape mode to FB. Anyone know how to fix this? Should I rotate the pic BEFORE uploading?
