Facial recognition with sun glasses

I just got prescription sunglasses and facial recognition does not work when I have them on. Not a big deal but I was wondering if others have the same experience. I actually like the idea that the feature is picky about my appearance. Having never used facial recognition I'm not completely sold on its security.

So did not notice the helpful thread already going under "face unlock". I went into biometric settings and added an "alternative look" with my sunglasses on. Works great so far.

I see you are a newer user here - welcome to Android Central!

I too just started using Face Unlock (along with the in-display fingerprint reader), and am also unsure of its security. I still prefer my in-display fingerprint reader.

I too wear glasses and I notice that my Face Unlock will work more efficiently when I have my glasses on. Maybe that's just a misguided assumption (maybe I use Face Unlock moreso when I have glasses on; maybe I go for the fingerprint reader more often; etc); but I too like that the Face Unlock seems to be picky about how it unlocks my phone.

Keep us posted on your journey with Face Unlock and how you are liking it!

Yeah face unlock is definitely not as secure which is why apps don't utilize it for unlocking or for password input. It's more of a convenience feature. I wish there was a setting to bring you straight to the home screen after face recognition. Unless I missed it.

I set up my facial scan without my glasses on. it seems to not have any problems when I am wearing them. one is regular glasses with wire frames and the other is the thick, black echo frames. kind of surprised me with it recognizing me using the echo frames
