I wanna do a factory reset because I download a bunch of stuff that I didn't like. I have uninstalled the apps/widgets but seems like my battery is draining way faster than what it was a before I installed the apps. So I would like to reset my phone and start fresh, but the one thing I really don't want to lose is my text messages. Can I upload them somewhere to save them and re-download them later? I'm also on AT&T

Samsung Smart Switch app. You can back up your data to SD card including Messages if you are using the stock Messaging app. If you use third party then of course use the back up option within the app if available.

I agree with Donm , this way will only save the stock message. Samsung cloud backup in settings/ account back up

I use a program called SMS Backup+ (free) that I've used for over 5 years now. Backs up my texts, but also backs up to my Gmail account so I never lose texts and I can access them from the computer at any time. Lifesaver and its a great way to keep those much needed messages in case of emergencies (or court with the ex). :)

Smart Switch works with over messengers. I use Android Messenger, I've had no problems backing up & restoring messages (almost 10000 - I need to clean them up lol).
