Factory reset from Settings meny or by pressing buttons?

Is the factory reset (for the Nexus 7) the same, when you do it from the Settings menu and when you do it by pressing a combination of buttons?
In the end, is it the same result or the one with the key combination is a "harder" reset ? Thank you.

It's the same thing. Resetting from the Recovery Menu is helpful if there are serious issues going on that prevent you from getting to the homescreen or the Settings menu.
