Factory Reset Help Please

Hello All,

Been having the random reboots ever since the update and Verizon and HTC refuse to help unless I do a factory reset. I told them I refuse to do so unless I can back everything up beforehand. They said there is no way to do so. I'm thinking Titanium Backup Pro will do this.

Is that the case? Will it back up everything including all Apps, contacts, homescreen layouts, wallpaper, favorites? Does it back everything up right to my SD card I'm hoping? Will a Factory Reset affect my SD card? I really just want an easy way to return everything to the way it was after this Factory Reset.

Thanks

Are you rooted? I'm pretty sure Titanium is only for root users. You may need to use something like My Backup Pro (works on root or not and some think it's better anyway), and yes, it will take care of all of that for you. Your SD card will not be affected at all.

Titanium Backup (have to be rooted) will only do apps and apps data. Your wallpapers should be saved on your SD card(assuming you saved the file) Contacts are all linked to your Google account so once you log in those will be restored. As for homescreen layouts, you'll have to set that back up yourself unfortunately.

That's why a lot of us like My Backup Pro better. It takes care of all of that, even tries to fix home screens and does a good job of it, widgets will be busted, but their place holders will be there, so it's easy to set back up.

That's a good call, doesn't require root either it seems? I usually don't have to back up anything so I've never bothered.

Thanks for everyone's help. I am not rooted (although perhaps I should be after this crap). I'll give My Backup Pro a shot.
