How many factory reset after an OTA that's not a security patch

I have never once factory reset any device I've had, and that's going back to the original droid. I have done so at the end of their life or when I handed mine down to someone else.

If I have too it's saying there's a problem and I need to sell it. The only time I do is when I sell it.
