Factory screen protector & fingerprint sensor.

Update: I think I figured out how to "make it work" and I'm confident it will improve with additional updates. I registered one full fingerprint PLUS two additional fingerprints that were only part of my thumb (tip & bottom) and now it appears to work. I also noticed that I needed to push a little on the screen, which I never had to do with my OnePlus. It seems to be more reliable but I wouldn't say "it works great." Good enough though.

I wonder if going without a screen protector improves things substantially?

Make sure you're covering all parts of your thumb, sides, towards the top, every time it takes the short break, scan a different part to make a complete map, I've been amazed at how good it really works after reading some of the posts here

And you left the screen protector on? Hmm.. maybe I'm doing something wrong. Okay. I'll keep at it.

Firm and quick seems to work best for me. And my left thumb works better than my right one. Which sucks since I'm right handed.

I had issues with the pre-installed screen protector. I removed it and installed a skinomi screen protector (I have always preferred these over tempered glass) and the fingerprint reader works better, no question.

When I first tried registering fingerprints the the pre-installed screen protector the phone kept telling me I wasn't pressing hard enough, I knew something was wrong right away.

I took off but put whitestone on...pretty much flawless but you have to make sure and at least push down enough to get a full print.

I'm sure there are all kinds of complaints about the fingerprint sensor - I gave it two days ... It sucks. My OnePlus 6T was flawless and fast (in display) and most physical ones work great too. I registered the same thumb 3 times to see if it helps and no luck. I'd say it works 50% of the time if I'm being nice. No big deal really -BUT- maybe taking off the factory installed screen protector would help? Has anyone done it and found success? Otherwise love the phone.

Sucks here, too--too many times I'm stuck either waiting 30 seconds or just entering the PIN.

At one point it refused to work AT ALL until I rebooted the phone.

$450 plus my S9+ for this...I may return it. Nothing wrong with the S9+, really, and I did get used to the FPS on the back--and it WORKS. Every time.

This is the very reason why I didn't purchase a 512GB S10+. I've seen and read reviews and the FPS just seems like it's terrible at recognizing fingerprints. It's new technology, I get it. But I'll wait for generation 2 before trying it out.

Well every review I've seen on You Tube, the fps works fine. It works fine for me and a lot of others. So to say the fps is terrible at recognizing fingerprints simply isn't true.

But if you use AOD you can just tap screen and fps area will show. Or use double tap or raise to wake. But this should help those who don't use AOD.

I dont even use double tap or tilt to wake . I put my finger or thumb where the button is and instantly in to the phone without waking the screen

Yeah just tried it myself, works fine. Thanks. But again all you have to do is tap anywhere on the screen and the fps will light up.

Cool anecdotal evidence.

My point still stands.
