failed to read data

I get "failed to read data" when trying to access supplementary services. I can no longer use call forwarding services. I have a Samsung Note 10 plus but also experienced the same error with my Samsung galaxy 10 plus. I had this same problem two months ago and solved the problem by getting a new sim card but today the problem has recurred. I have seen multiple posts going back 5 years but have not seen what the root cause is. My wife's phone is a galaxy 9 and hers always works.

I could probably get another new sim card but I don't think this is really the problem. Anyone know of a solution?

I have tried to remove clean and replace sim.
Turn off WiFi.
Wiped cache.
Put network into 3g/4g mode.
Put my sim into my wife's phone. Got same error message.

If the sim not reading in your phone and trying in your wifes phone and does the same I would say it's a sim problem .

Either the sim or your account setup at the carriers end it sounds like
