falling out of love with the HTC one :(

Sounds like you care too much what other people think about what phone you use... Perhaps Apple would be the better choice for you until you figure out that phones aren't really an extension of who you are...

Completely agree with everything but the very last part, yes this guy is obsessed with how everyone else perceives phone choice, which naturally makes the iPhone the perfect candidate, but the whole point is that our phones really should be an extension of who we are.

If you want to follow the crowd, fit in, hang with the cool kids, then yeah, get an iPhone. If you want to be yourself and make your own decisions then you need Android. I love the comment about the One being the underdog, and it is, but the simple fact of life is that the best seller is not always the best product. Being the best seller perpetuates itself, ie more people buy the phone because more people have bought the phone, which to me is just crazy and ultimately lazy.

If you are not happy with your One then change it for an S4 or a Note, but based on the reasons you have given, you will be even more disappointed with them than you are with the One.

I now realize that I should of been a psychologist in life...
Really? Tell us how you really feel... Get it out umkay... After your done the real world will be waiting for you..

Walking into bestbuy I feel like a loser, Samsung and apple completely dominate the phone section. Me being the only one with a ONE while everyone else thinks there top notch with an iPhone or Galaxy.

Use a phone for functionality and not because what you think others think of you. In nearly all cases, no one cares. The only people that care what phone you are using are people on these forums. Having said that, if those others things really bother you then that seems sufficient to try something new. You owe no allegience to HTC. Find the device that suits you and maybe that is a Samsung device and there's nothing wrong with that. I go back and forth between Android and iPhone all year long and I don't give a crap about what others think. I have to go with the device that suits me at the time and you should too ;) .Good luck.

I LOVE my HTC one I would not trade for one of those plastic s3 or s4 phones which ever is witch can't hardly tell them apart . Hope HTC keeps bring more like the new ONE .

Mr OP the One has a boot loader that's easy to unlock. There are dozens of ROMs out there for it. I am currently running Android Revolution. It's 4.2.2 with Sense. There are many other ROMs out there that are 4.2.2. Zero carrier bloat. No need to wait for HTC for an update.

You wisely purchased the One, stick with it, us it, and quit worrying about what other people/companies are doing. Just use it and be satisfied.

They sell cases for the One right here on the Android Central store. I use the Otterbox, with the holster. Nothing wrong with it, it protects and stores the phone.

Stay out of Best Buy.

You do know that being preoccupied with having a device that noone else has is pretentious, right?

No one said to occupy your thought or attention. However, if you have made a good faith purchase that just so happens to lead you to have a unique product or device, one should never feel self-conscious. Instead, that person should embrace their decision and be confident in their selection. And like others have said... its a phone... But it is on your person every day, so be sure to pick a good one!

I kind of feel you on the image quality thing (looks great on phone, meh on computer--especially with instagram, and now instagram vids) but I think that may be par for the course with phone photos. I'm still learning how to use the camera, anyway, though, so I hope that it's partially user error.

As for everything else in your post, if it really bothers you THAT much, maybe you would be happier with another device.

you have what you have

you want what you don't have

If you had the S4 or Note 2 and you either got bored AND/OR saw all these HTC One commercials, im sure you'd want the One.

When I first bought the phone I was crazy about it.
Everything about it seemed perfect.
Im a fan of sence 5 and love the interface. But recently I've been wanting to have a Samsung product.
Is it all the marketing that's brain washing me ?

I feel like I should trade my ONE for a note 2 and get money on top.
The note 2 is still one of the best phones out right now.

Or even trade it in for an s3 or s4 .
Now I know Samsungs touchwiz isn't the greatest and there's rumors of a lot of lag .. but I don't know

The one is an amazing device no doubt about it but Im getting bored of it... For lack of better words.

Boom sound is nice but I usually only listen to music through headphones or aux cable.

Ultrapixels are ... Meh

Blinkfeed is useful but I guess that's what flipboard is for....

I'm also tired of HTCs lack of effort .
When buying the phone in Canada
No cellphone company had a single idea of what the phone was or even when it would come out. There was no advertising anywhere . Not to mention countless times they changed the release date.

Buying a cell phone case was the worst process. No one carried anything for the ONE weeks later, except the fat hideous otter box.

Walking into bestbuy I feel like a loser, Samsung and apple completely dominate the phone section. Me being the only one with a ONE while everyone else thinks there top notch with an iPhone or Galaxy.

Camera pictures look nice on small screen and dissapointing on computer

4.2 is waiting until Christmas to be released

HTC logo is completely unnecessary

Please understand that I am not bashing the HTC one.
Im still a fan of there work.
I think I just needed to vent and hear others perspective on this .
Thanks for your time

I didn't want to be like everyone else who had iPhones, so I bought a Motorola. Two actually, and I RELISHED the fact that not everyone had the same phone as me. I now have the S3 and I absolutely LOVE it. Except I can't stand that everyone else has it too. If I were you, i'd try very much to love your One and be grateful that you are enjoying a hidden gem in the phone market. Walk into BestBuy with your head held high for thinking outside the box and getting something that required some knowledge beyond just seeing ads on tv. I love Samsung products because i've researched them and Touchwiz is something I enjoy. But I also get irritated that it's becoming a manufacturer that people are going with just because they hear their friends talk about one feature.

Using Android is a huge statement that we're okay with using our brains to find the best on the market instead of what California CEO's tell us to think. The same can be said of using an HTC One instead of just having to "fit in." However, if it's not meeting your needs, certainly look elsewhere for what fits you best. But if you're just worried about fitting in, even with an S4 you'll feel left out when the Note 3 comes out.

Back it how..Samsung has a larger marketing budget than HTC total worth. You ever stop to think how in the heck does Samsung get away with a product that is cheap and half baked when literally EVERY other high end device has better software and quality build? Sony, LG, HTC and even Hawaei has a better functioning and built device that Samsung. They spend all of their dollars in mindshare stunts instead of a quality product. End the end they will lose just wait and see.

Mm............Looks like your profile name should be changed. If you think Samsung is only popular because of marketing, you have never studied marketing. Or business. And if you have studied those things and you STILL have convinced yourself that Samsung is successful based only on their marketing, then you are more in denial than most i've ever encountered. Samsung's build quality is fine. Polycarbonate is not trash. If you think it is, check out the trending topics each day and how they rotate about scratches on the One and other defects or problems. One guy scratched the crap out of his HTC One simply by his watch band brushing the back as he pocketed it.

You talk about them losing. PLEASE set your anger aside for just one second and look at the real world. Samsung is not losing. They haven't been, and they wont anytime soon. Your whole post was ignoring logic and festering with distaste. You can hate something and still think logically. Give it a try.

Essense thanks for posting this. I can see it your way as well. I am glad that you gave the HTC One a REAL chance. This phone is by no means perfect for everyone. I like you share some of the same hatred of the One. But it's just not a deal breaker for me personally. Nor do I take your post as a bash. Another plus in my book.

I still love my HTC One and it will be my main driver for the next year or so. My next device is gonna be the next Nexus device. Unless I can turn this into one! Either way your post is a good one in my book. Your opinion is shared by many its just not a deal breaker for most. Good luck with whatever device you end up making your personal daily driver! And for the record...The GN2 is STILL an impressive phone!

Good luck my friend,

CJ

You have a monitor with image resolution greater than 1080P? (1080P is "only" 2 Megapixels by the way)

You will never be happy with the HTC One and should move on.

Now we're basing what's cool on how Best Buy is set up?

I have both phones and I still prefer the one over the S4. I like both of them but I hardly use the S4, it just sits on my desk most of the time.

Pure hogwash. You're using Android because it works for you not because you're making a statement. People are saying on one hand you shouldn't care what people think but on the other hand saying stuff like this. That's a total contradiction. Making a statement means showing other people something and if you don't care, what's the point in making a statement? Because we aren't. You mean to tell me that only people that buy iPhones are fanatics who blindly follow them? People all over this site drool over everything Google does and Samsung and are just the same. Same with those on CB for blackberry and those on iMore for iPhone. The smartphone user bases are all the same in their mentality but just have different choices. Made up of fanboys who claim to not be fanboys while they do nothing profess their love for something different and bash other products because they don't like or agree with that company's philosophy. The hypocrisy is crazy.
