Sorry. I think your comment is based on stupidity and believing anything that Jizmodo says is also borderline idiotic. They, just like 90% of the other tech blogs not only make up a large quantity of bull**** to keep you tagging the page, but also poll such an absurdly small amount of people that the polls are useless. Especially for fact-based reporting.
I buy Android because I understand it and can properly utilize it. My mom buys an iPad because she could give a flop about 3/4 of the capability that Android gives you. She prefers the simplicity of iOS and yes- build quality of Apple products. I would be willing to bet that a large majority of the people buying iPads are buying them because they are made by Apple, thus well made, and easy to use. The comment about "buying what they think is cool" is very off base. My mother bought it because she understands it and the app-based OS works best for her.
Say what you like, but you simply cannot truly compare the two devices as far as quality of assembly. The iPad wins. Compare specs and the Xoom wins. It's pretty obvious on paper. I prefer the Xoom/Android, even given that it sat in a crappy, dinky little display in Best Buy and had a creaky plastic backside. Apple knows what they are doing and frankly, Motorola's marketing of the Xoom is sub par and their reputation isn't exactly glowing either. Remember sport- I'm not an Apple fanboy, it's just superior maketing. Because you don't get it just means that you aren't Apple's target audience. It's ok to be passionate about a product, just don't insert too much loyalty without a little common sense.
To the OP- glad you were able to make the decision after a little trial and error. I did the same with my iPhone 4. Just couldn't make it work for my application. I missed the notifications for when I spend my usual 3-4 hours in a meeting every day. For a tablet though, I will likely sell my Ipad and upgrade to number two. I think iOS 5 will truly play on the capabilities of the new iPad.
