Fascinate Email Issues

I have the basic, non-rooted Fascinate. From day one I have had two chronic email problems that Samsung, Verizon, and Comcast can't seem to resolve. The first issue involves not being able to consistently pull my emails from Comcast without resorting to tuning the phone off and then on again. It will then pull my backlog of emails. I have the phone set to pull my emails every 5 minutes. The second issue is that at least once per day I receive a blank email that is dated 12-31-1969. Has anyone heard of this issue? I have uninstalled all of my apps and performed a factory reset, and the problems still persist.

r u using a task killer?? If so cut it out and that should fix your problem, Also welcome to AC there are alot of great people here to help you!

Set up a gmail account, then link your comcast to your gmail. the basic email setup on the phone is CRAP !

I sell phones for a living and I get lots of customers with this issue. Download k9 email from the market. It's much more reliable than stock.

I agree with this 100%. I had the same problem as the OP and after I started using k9 have had zero issues.

I have been using k9 since before this year started.

I also agree 100% that Sheepy sells phones for a living..............oh and about K-9 mail too :p

Both options (gmail or third party app) have their merits. Gmail will push instantly on its own, and the third party apps you can set your sync frequency. Both are much more viable than the stock setup

Thanks for the great advice. I tried the K-9 email app and so far everything seems to be working properly.

I got a question on this. If I link another account to my gmail, when I reply does it reply from/with the gmail address/account or the linked account. i.e. if someone send me an email to xxx@cox.net and it is linked to my gmail and I reply will it "reply" from gmail or the cox account?

If you respond from gmail, that's what the "from" will identify. If you instead use k9 mail, your reply will identify the cox.net address.

If you are running the Gmail version for phones with Froyo, you can select which account you want to compose or reply from. I have two MSN accounts linked with my Gmail account. Before linking, emails would take several hours to arrive. Now they come instantaneouly and I can choose which email account I want to use.

I have another Gmail related question. Does anyone know how to regain the pinch to zoom function within Gmail? In Eclair, I used to be able to zoom out and see then entire email in my screen. Now w/ Froyo, I can no longer do that :-/ Thoughts?
