What about installing froyo without root? Do we have one, or can one be made? A version of Froyo that looks exactly like the one that will be released with all bloatware, etc, but with the root removed?

yeah we have a fully stock version of froyo without root but it will still have all the verizon junk on there
Alternatively you could install debloated EB01, and manually unroot it if she prefers it just to be unrooted.
The full, bloaty DL30 might be better. I'm trying to remember what the bugs were, but I'm drawing a blank, and it's too late for me to do the digging. (gotta go to bed.) I know it had problems with exchange passwords, and there was one other mid to large bug that wasn't crippling for most people.

To all those people out there scared to root, there is nothing to be afraid of. I just did it and trust me when I say it was easy. I was one of those terrified too because I was scared to mess something up... ( I am not too computer savy)... Took me a few minutes and Damn!!! I should of done it along time ago!!! My phone runs and looks great. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Personally I think both Verizon AND Samsung have abandoned the Fascinate. It's been relegated to orphan status!
thought i read on the homepage that galaxy s line in europe is already going to get 2.3. sounds like there's hope beyond 2.2 for us then, one day, hopefully.

Go to roots,roms and hacks at the beginning of this forum and look for the sticky started by droidx. You will have it all done in15 minutes.

We can all agree that Samsung had a mostly working/bug free version of Froyo evidenced by the one that was leaked.
Is it possible Sammy and VZ couldn't get it (whatever "it" is) ironed out just how they would have liked.
Is it also possible that they have now scrapped the leaked Froyo, in favor of Gingerbread?
(Just fueling the pilot light, cause there hasn't been so much as a whisper in weeks... :-/)

lol. the only way we will see gingerbread will be from kaos or adry or butch or some custome dev. i wouldnt be surprised if they droped froyo all together and "leaked" eb01 to shut everyone up.
