Fascinate Froyo Speculation and Rumors

I've seen a million groups/events like this that do nothing to actually reach a goal. To me it usually just seems like an easy way to get people to join your group, then you can spam everyone and make money.

Froyo is readily available. Not for the average consumer that doesn't want to void a warranty or deal with keeping track of updates, glitches and fixes via forums.

Actually... I FIXED it.

Seriously, I understand I can root, and the chances of bricking are SMALL, but I've seen MORE problems with people with rooted phones than those without rooting.

It's only voided if you're dumb enough to tell them. Yeah there are glitches here and there but the difference is that the developers here actually fix them and update in a timely manner. Not to mention even the OTA updates are buggy and can crash your phone in which most people just sit with a brick until Verizon replaces it. Once you learn how to odin to Froyo, you also learn how to go back to stock if something isn't working right.

I feel pretty certain that those on the VZW forum feel that they WILL be the reason that one day froyo is released OTA. They will claim their historical April fool's Day Facebook movement as the rally that took down the man. You know, when the phone came out they offered accessories that required 2.2. Wouldn't you think that would mean they intend on the device being upgraded OTA in time? That forum is much more of a gripe fest than a forum of useful information.

All of the problems that happen as a result of rooting are, for the most part, easily fixable. Go to Verizon and ask them how you can fix the problem of them not releasing FROYO yet. And what could possibly be a worse problem than not having an updated Operating System (OS) that Verizon promised we would have by the end of 2010?

i wouldnt be surprised if they droped froyo all together and "leaked" eb01 to shut everyone up.

It sure has shut up the forum community, there used to be tons of posts about ppl whining for froyo.
What about those that don't cruise forums or otherwise have no access to froyo...they must still be fuming. Promised in Nov then the end of '10 till now being March. There even were rumors on the front page but nowadays not even that...sheesh go figger
Seems they, be it vzw or samsung, just plain and simple just forgot about us

On the other hand, I'm sure there are plenty of people who have the phone, use it, and have no clue about the OS issue. They may be perfectly happy with the stock phone and not the types to join a forum like this. The phone is pretty great in its original form, but even BETTER with the rooting!

My wife fits this category and I suspect the majority of Fascinate users are in this category. She uses the phone to make calls, messaging and some web lookups. For her it works fine.
On the other hand my Fascinate is running Froyo which works even better for me.

here is some thing "official", for what its worth.

2.2/Froyo pulled? - xda-developers

"We are working to make the Android 2.2/Froyo upgrade available to all Verizon users as soon as possible. "

LOL. Sounds like he created the template for reps to use when you call VZ or Samsung about it :-)

I always love the "as soon as possible part" (because clearly it wasn't possible for them to get us Froyo sooner than almost a year after Froyo's release in May of 2010 :- )

Thanks for the info though. Good that it's officially coming, sometime ..

Full Froyo Release date speculation?

My friend has an Epic 4g and sent me a text saying Sprint is re-issuing the Froyo update for the Epic by the end of the month.

I'm rooted and love the SC 2.9.1, but would still like to have these guys do their thing with the full build, and have ALL the features of Froyo... which leads to the question..

Has anyone heard anything about the full release of Froyo for the Fascinate?

Double wammy up to Gingerbread possibly?

Well the moderators have been very busy today moving threads to where they should have been posted, so when you eventually find this after they move it (as they should) over to one of the already existing Froyo speculation threads in the general Verizon Fascinate forum, here is a tip that can help you in the future: when you start the process of posting a new thread, and you put in a subject heading, you should see a list of already existing threads dealing with that subject. Take a few moments to read at least the first post of those threads to see if it is closely related to your reason for trying to start a new thread. If one of those threads fits the bill, post your question in that thread instead of starting a whole new thread. That way all questions and answers regarding the same topic can be found in one place as a valuable resource for anyone looking for answers to a similar question. Check out all the valuable information here http://forum.androidcentral.com/android-central-meta/57097-android-central-forum-faqs.html
It will help you get the most out of the forums.

EDIT - Look at that. While I was typing my response the moderators fulfilled my prophecy about the new thread being merged into an already existing thread. This is going to turn into a game for me. Every time I see a new thread started that should actually have been a question posted in an already existing thread, in my response I'm going to list in what thread I think it will be merged and see how many times I am right :)

EDIT FURTHER - Oh wait, I can still play. I got confused and thought it had already been moved. Ok first try - http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...cinate-froyo-news-speculation-discussion.html
