Fascinate Introduction

Hello everyone! I've been on Android central for a while now, but with. The moto droid. As I still have about a year left on contract, I decided to buy the fascinate on ebay. The droid was really starting to show its age in terms of battery life and slow functioning. So, my fascinate should arrive by the end of the week. With the droid, I was an avid rooter and rom user. How easy is the fascinate to root? What are the best ROMs for it? Also, seeing as the nexus s and fascinate are almost identical in terms of specs, do you forsee gingerbread in its future at all? I'm well aware of the fascinate update delays, but do you believe gingerbread is coming? Thanks, and I can't wait to finally have this phone in my hands!

Welcome to our corner of the Android world. I know you will like it here as we have a lot of very helpful and knowledgeable people who are here to help.

1. I would start here for the basics of rooting the Fascinate and how to get Clockwork on it.
2. You will get many opinions on what is the best Rom out there but I think you'll find most people are now praising the Community Rom (Comm Rom) which I run and love. Click here to go straight to the forum.
3. As far as GB goes, personally I don't think about it much if at all. I am not even sure what benefits it will provide over the Comm Rom besides being able to say "I have GB!".

I bought my phone for the amazing hardware it has and with the development community here on AC,the software is better than anything I could OTA from a carrier.
