Fascinate not receiving emails

Guess my problems weren't fixed like I initially thought :(

It was working great for a few days. But now I havent received any e-mails in the last 12 hours on my fascinate. Yet check the mailserver and they are sitting there.

Also, going into the e-mail app and pushing refresh or load more messages doesn't do anything :( the little circle spins, but no new messages.

This is a serious problem. A phone without e-mail, isn't very useful to me.

What problems did you have with Maildroid? It runs great on mine!

I occasionally have issues with MailDroid retrieving mail even with it running in the background. I don't like that it only retrieves headers instead of the entire message.

K-9 has formatting issues and even more problems retrieving mail.

I went back to Verizon yesterday, the rep said they have not heard of this problem. When I told her I had found a forum dedicated to it, she almost acted as if I were making it up. So please, go tell your sales reps about this problem. She deleted my email accounts, set them up again, and we did a hard reset. Of course it worked when she sent me a test email in the store! But I received a total of 10 emails today on my godaddy server, andonly about 4 of them came through, most were about an hour late coming in and one I had to manually refresh. I agree that this is my most important reason to having a smartphone, email! I think I'll switch to the HTC Incredible, all the forums I've read on it does not seem to have this problem. Super frustrating though!
I also miss having a missed call/text notification light on this phone. We tried downloading Handcent and nothing worked. Anybody know exactly when Android 2.2 will be released for this phone? As I said before - I'd almost like to see if that solves the problem, but with my luck, it will be released a day after the 30 return window I have. Ugh!

This, in essence, was the exact same problem I had, and K-9 fixed it nicely. If you like everything else about the phone you might want to give it a try. One of the things I like about K-9 is it shows when it's checking POP mail in the status bar. I have mine set to poll for new mail every five minutes. I have four POP accounts and it's nice to see the phone actually checking for email after the first few frustrating days of sporadic and unreliable polling.

I have been having the same issues (including issues with the Gallery force stopping) and everything went away once I added all the core system processes to the ignore list in my Task killer. I suggest you try it and see what happens. All my emails are coming in instantaneously :D

I am not running any form of task killer and still experience this problem

ok so now it's time for me to eat my words :P The problem came back even without task killer installed by me too. I may have found a way to make it work though. When you turn on your phone, go to Settings the Account and Sync. Then go to the gmail account and un-check everything and re-check it. After I do that, the emails come in without a problem. I only recently discovered this "fix" so let me know if it works for you too.

Edit: Only seems to work some of the time :(

I recently started a thread because of this very same thing, only it's happening to me on my Comcast account that I have. This obviously is not an Isolated probem. I actually did not have this problem until I received the update. Does anyone think that this problem will be fixed with Froyo or are we just "super-screwed"?

I actually removed the account and re-installed after I shut the phone completely off. It worked for about a couple of hours and it turned to **** again.! Uuuuuggggggggghhhhh!

My experience so far as been, When it stop receiving e-mails, turn the phone off / back on.

It will when begin to receive e-mails again.. For a short period of time that is, then it stops again.

Basically I have to reboot my phone every 2-4 hours for e-mail to work! This is completely unacceptable. I love this phone, but unless we can figure out how to make e-mail work reliably I'm going back to a BlackBerry.

Reliable E-mail is just more important than the market and live wallpapers etc.

Tried K9 - it worked great...for about 3 hours. Now same problem as the stock email app. Too frustrating, I'm trading it in. Good luck folks!! :(

Is it normal for my inbox to empty when I open up my email client on my desktop? Aren't the emails stored on the device once it shows I have new emails? Is there anyway to stop this from happening?

Grrr... same thing on my phone. No task killers...very little from app store.

One thing I did notice (once) was that I had gallery open that had pix that was attached to an email that wouldn;t send. Once I forced gallery to close the email went through.

Has there been a fix to this problem. I just got a Fascinate and am having email issues with my hotmail account. Any help would be appreciated.

Update:

If you read through the thread you can see the issues I was having with E-mail. Many of you seem to be experience the same issues.

I have finally resolved all my issues with the stock e-mail client! It has been functioning and stable for a week now. No reboots...

Here is what fixed it for me. I had configured my device for POP. I removed all e-mail accounts from my phone, and then freshly re-configured my e-mail addresses as IMAP instead.

By using IMAP and no security (SSL/TLS) I have been able to use the stock e-mail client successfully, set to search for new messages every 30 minutes.

My next step is to test with it set to check more frequently. Ideally, I'd like it to check every 10-15min but I haven't tested for stability down to that frequency yet.

Not sure why, But it seems like IMAP works POP doesn't...

If your e-mail provider supports IMAP IDLE then you should use K-9 or Maildroid instead of having the stock e-mail client poll the server every so often.

I have two Yahoo email accounts, Gmail, and my work email (Exchange) on my two week old Fascinate. Friday my Exchange account quit working. I fixed it by deleting the account on the phone and then adding it again but I don't know what caused the issue.

I had a Droid 1 running 2.2 before the Fascinate and I find myself wishing for a stock 2.2 install for this phone as it definitely has it's quirks. I'm also noticing that it's starting to lag a bit which it didn't do the first week or so.

How do I set up a POP server as IMAP on either K9 or the stock email program?

Second that. Thought I could figure it out on my own but............yeah, not so much.

Havent got an email on my phone in 3 days and its a bit concerning.

I have my exchange email set up through the corporate email, but I noticed that my fascinate will delete emails after a couple of days on its own. Does anyone know if there is a setting to change the amount of time or select never so that emails will not be deleted from the phone after a couple of days? I noticed the star next to the email messages, not sure if selecting that will save it or not. Any help would be great.
