Fast charging not working/ USB charging

I believe there is a new setting on the S6's to optionally turn "Quick Charging" On or Off. It should be in the settings under battery I believe. Or just search it in the settings if you have that option.

Saved my life thank you

This worked for me! Thank you!

The moment i updated my mobile to Android 6 from then my mobile is not charging properly it takes 6 to 7 hours to fully charge dono what to do with this.. Do anyone know how to resolve this issue.

In order for Fast charging working ,
You have to use it's original White USB cable and the White adapter plug in the wall outlet ..
Other than that it will go to the option transfer files or charging ...

Mine acts that way .. I think it's normal ..!!

I'm using the original charger that came with my phone (Galaxy Note 5). My phone isn't even a year old, but a few moths ago my charger would sometimes not fast charge. Now it won't fast charge at all and my phone constantly says "slow charger".

same problem with me in my a5 2016, fast charging is not working. need help please. update cames with 1 feture and 100 bugs. :(

All of you guyz, please check that if your phone supports OTG and PC Connection now?? Because i too having this problem and I dont have Fast charging, OTG, PC connection after update. Please check. I yes, post.

Just chiming in with my experience- I had not pushed in the cable to the charger enough. Problem fixed.

OMG! It worked! You are right! I just had to push the cable in more into charger! Now it's charging fast again. Thank you :)

Yea I have 2-3 fast chargers that all seem to work fine on my wifes s6. That screenshot was taken while plugged into the original white charger into a wall outlet. I understand these options will popup when plugged into a computer. Thats why its so weird. Its plugged into the wall charger. But it seems to think its hooked up via USB into my computer. Maybe my charging port went bad

It was a software update error

The same thing has happened to me. I researched the issue and found that quick-charge is enabled by shorting the usb data pins. If there is a broken connection for the data pins quick charge will stop working and you will also lose PC connection. I replaced my USB charge port, but the problem persists. It seems there is an open connection on the logic board, but at US$100 for the board I think I'll just get a different phone.

Hi my s6 doing the same fast charger wont work since i updated to anyone help please

I have the exact same issue on my S6. I can no longer fast charge or even normal chargevvia cable, can only get a super slow trickle charge. I have tried several cables and several chargers that all work elsewhere but no longer on my S6.

I can still normal charge or fast charge using charge pads. But i am mobile most of the time and need to fast charge while driving and using a Samsung fast charge battery pack or fast charge car charger.

Since the life of my non changable battery has worn down from most of the workday to half of tge workday, this is a serioous limitation on a phone that should be at worst its halflife and still have a year of payment remaining.

I also found out that there is a problem getting files off of my non removable built in storage via usb cable. Another major blow as i use that frequently. I had to resort to using a tedious ftp server that works over wifi and is very ineffiecient to use.

I tried all the hints in the forum, no luck. Anyone have a diagnosis (software upgrade issue needs,a fix?) or very invasive risky usb port replacement, or ??.

You more than likely have a damaged USB port. Best option is to send it into Sammy or your carrier insurance. I sent my S6 in today for a battery replacement (would only last 5-7 hours), and a cracked rear camera lens replacement. The total cost for those issues was $70.31. I paid it because, it was way more reasonable than the $130 my local repair shop wanted. But there is a catch, if they find anything else broke they will also repair it and add it to your charge (they don't do half repairs); if you don't let them charge you, they'll send the device back unrepaired. At least that's the gist I got. And as far as I know the only two issues with my S6 were the one's I listed. So hopefully they find nothing else that I was unaware of. Also the turn around time is 11 days. So I'll be using my spare Samsung Galaxy J3 for about 2 weeks.

I also have the same issue, didn't think much of it at first, but this all happened after my software update.

My S6 and S6 Edge are charging at only Quick Charge 1.0 speed (5V 2A) instead of "Adaptive Fast Charge" speed (9V 1.67A). I have tried a few different chargers, including a brand new Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger and cable. Takes the same amount of time with fast charging turned on or off. So about 30 minutes longer than it used to take.

Been struggling with power cords not working after only minimal use, switching cables was always the fix. I was mostly using discount cables, so never thought more of it. Lucked out yesterday and for some reason restarted my phone after plugging it in and noticed before shutting down, it was "charging slowly", but after it booted back up it was "charging" normally. I'm assuming this is a software error, that hopefully will eventually get fixed, until then I will plug in my phone, and if not "charging" or "Turbo-charging" I will simply reboot.

I actually found the solution for this problem. I have a quick charge powerbank and our LG (g4 and g6) will charge crazy fast with this powerbank. I also have a quick charge charger in the car and again with the LG phones I just don't care if the battery will go below 30% as in my drive home (about 1.5 hour drive) it will easily charge to 100% and the battery of my g4 is almost 2 years old and still going strong.
Well, this weekend my g4 fell down the stairs and my screen was completely shattered. So I took the backup phone which is my girlfriend's old phone, the Galaxy s6.
Well, I was really disappointed that the galaxy s6 charges terribly slow. It would even lose power when on the powerbank when watching Netflix. In the car the same story.
It would always say that it was charging via USB. I didn't try the original charger as this went missing months ago.

So here's the solution I came up with. Please forgive the errors as I have to translate it from Dutch so it might be called differently here and there ;

- Go to settings

- Go to phone info

- Go to software info

- Tap several times on build number until it says you're a developer

- go back two steps, scroll to the bottom and select developer options

- find the option 'usb configuration'
This will be most likely set on mtp

- set the option to 'charge'
It will be active as soon as you select it

Now try charging. I just charged from 86 to 100% within 15 minutes which was 1,5 hour before changing this option

It does not say fast charging with the powerbank but judging from the speeds I get it actually does.
My car charger does say fast charging now.

It's not as fast as my LG but I can live with that.

Hope this works for you as well. Let me know.

Obviously, if you do need mtp for syncing your phone with your laptop you need to change the option back. That's no issue for me as I do everything wirelessly.
By the way, charging via a USB port on my laptop is also significantly faster now, a USB port can deliver 1A if no data is used and apparently this is the case now.

After the very big issue with S7 burning and exploding batteries, Samsung launched a new Marshmallow software which does not alooe fast charging in any of their smartphones S5, S6, S7.
But they will not admit this, if not they would have to recall millions of smarphones. Samsung smartphones are done my friends. If you have a Samsung smartphone you have a big problem. And if you buy one, you buy a problem.
Such an issue with the S7 turning on fire is not free. It has finished with this brand reputation.

I have an S7 with Nougat and I noticed that if I use a QC 2.0 charger with the fast charging setting enabled it charges very fast or at least 2-3% per minute, however if I use the Samsung charger it charger or any non QC charger it takes over 6 hours. My solution, surprisingly what simply turning off quick charge in battery settings. With it off my phone will now fully charge in the usual 3 hours. I wonder if this is a software bug with nougat or a hardware issue, but quick charge on for QC 2.0, quick charge off in all other cases for the fastest charge.
