Fastest, most efficient custom ROM?

Hey Guys, I am a long time lurker, first time poster.

First of all I would like to thank all the Dev's for all of your hard work on the CODE and on the simple and easy to follow guides on this Forum.

I've used ThunderROM 1.6.2 and now I'm on Lego ROM (with JIT and Hardware acceleration enabled). Both are fast, and I love the TwoPointTwo Theme I'm currently using. I've never tried nROM (Sorry nick :'()

Now my question is very simple, but I think that the Devs would have the best time answering it. Which ROM is the most efficient? Which ROM has the best battery life and performance? Or is there not a perceivable difference? (As there has not been with Lego vs ThundeROM for me, though I'm sure they share many components).

I've used all 3 of those roms, and have found them to provide decent battery life... I know I had a bit of an issue with applications I "restored" on the Lego Rom... (included some heat).

I think there are positives for all 3... I know I like the thunder Rom theme... (with the circle battery added to it)...

I'm not sure if it's good or bad that I'm finding I tweak the images used in any "default" theme I'm using now...

Juice Defender + Ultimate juice give my phone almost double the battery life.

I am not a huge power user and don't use data/wireless constantly through the day.

This app will shut down the radio/wireless when not in use and turn them on when necessary.

Greatly increases battery life on the phone.

If you are constantly using data through the day though, your only hope is to keep charging it
or hope that someone will make a larger battery and/or custom cover for the back of it if necessary.

As for a custom ROM... my setup is VERY convoluted currently

1) Originally had stock Sprint rom - rooted with Z4Root

2) Upgraded from Stock -> NRom 1.2 -> 1.3 -> 1.4 -> 1.4.5

3) Xionia Kernel 005 running until recently, upgraded to Xionia 006, then to the boot.img from VC Rom 006
Using VC Rom 006 boot.img plus a couple .sh files from Zefie for the dalvik-cache -> /cache tweaks

4) RA recovery 1.1 -> RA Recovery 1.2 -> Xionia clockwork mod 1.2518 -> 1.2518.1

Pretty much a LEGO style ROM - but stable as heck! OC'd to 768mhz but phone can run @ 806mhz OC no prob

No Tombstones at all from this setup so far.

Id be cool for a dev to cook up a simple rom, that only does the basics, like carrier support fot phone calls, sms n mms, then media playback, n all the required n removed the unnecessary stuff, like search, calendar, stock launcher (replaced with zeam), swype, live wallpapers and ran on 2.3, it would be a low end rom but could run pretty quick...n if u wanted those features they could be flash able

I just flashed NamelessROM since the developers teamed up to work on a single one (i think the creators of lego, thunder, nRom)

plus there will not be any updates to those roms i named since they are all working on NamelessROM now

I have used 4 different roms for my phone, and "Nameless" is by far the fastest, most stable, and with the longest battery life of any of them. I can't see myself using anything else (until Nameless 2.0 comes out...hehe)

Agreed. Nameless is quite nice...

ive used all the roms on here, thus far i perfer the nameless rom (overclocked already when you flash it) but ThundeRom was good as well, I would say choose one of those 2 but remember thunderom is discontinued (but still great)

Have you run either AOSP CyanogenMod or Scott Pilgrim CM7?

Yes, and both are very nice ROMS. But I found certain things lacking in both of them for me. Scott Pilgrim had some stability issues that I could never sort out (even though I wiped my phone CLEAN and reflashed 2 times), and AOSP ran slower than I wanted. Nameless is exactly what I need and want.

And what makes nameless so much better than CM7? Zefies build runs great on my phone, seems like nameless is missing alot of features that is in CM7, such as widgets in notification bar, dsp manager, and android 2.3, I am just asking what would make me switch to nameless as I may just do so, thanks!

Depends if you just want a nice fast rom or a rom built of 2.3 with more features.
For me nameless is awesome and its battery life is amazing since my phone can last 2 days now and with cm7 it would barely get to half a day for me. Probably my phone doesnt like cm7 but o well... theyre all great roms made by great developers ;)

Yes, it runs much faster and is more stable for me. It really has everything I need and nothing that I don't. I can't wait to see it even further developed. Right now, imo, this is the definitive ROM for the Optimus S.

If you use and are happy with the features of CM7, then I don't see a reason to switch. I have no need for widgets in the notification bar, I can get the dsp manager as a separate flash if I wanted it, and I really haven't seen enough benefits in 2.3 to warrant the switch from 2.2.

I did flash over nameless yesterday and I do admit it is nice and fast, just wish it had some of the featurez of cm7, its a toss up, let me flip a coin, as for battery life, i carry a spare in my wallet
